78 Traditional old men society pub. Lived in with still some Christmas vibes and minor touches. 8 casks are what is interesting here, keg is macro, Punk IPA etc. Some cask beers I haven't really seen before. Special deals for students etc. available. Lovely place for a drink but not essential. |
66 Traditional pub on a corner through the commercial areas around the rail station on the the Dumbarton Road. Open plan with a darker mainly wooden design and floors throughout, the bar on the left offers up a good range of brews which plenty of worthwhile cask options in here. Big windows make it nice and airy inside during daylight hours. |
60 Very traditional cask ale house, with a rather sterile interior. Lots of cask taps, but nothing all that interesting. Worth popping in if you're in the area -- e.g., to visit the Brewdog down the street -- but not worth a special trip. It's alright, but nothing special. |
60 Indifferent alehouse with a limited selection (Covid issues aside), my pint was quite decent to be fair. I couldn't see myself having a long session here, the pub just isn't comfortable enough for it. Fortunately Byres Road is virtually round the corner. |

72 Visited on Saturday afternoon and the pub was mobbed, however was served quickly. Made the venture as one of our group was looking for a real cider and so was pleased to find one alongside 8 cask ales, had a couple of beers, one good, one not so (think it was end of the cask), well priced, especially considering they offer 3 1/3 pints for £3. Locals seemed friendly. Traditional pub but one of the better ones for ale in Glasgow. |
68 Very traditional pub outside Kelvinhall subway station. It feels slightly sterile despite the half dozen customers dotted around on a Tuesday lunchtime. The eight casks hold nothing overly spectacular although there is a decent bottle selection containing among others Williams Bros and Drygate, as well as German and Belgian favourites. I am surprised by the high rates and can only surmise that they’re from an earlier time when there was less choice in Glasgow. Don’t get me wrong, it’s pleasant enough, just maybe not worth going out of your way. |
56 Visited the 23rd July 2016 - standard place nothing special except the beer. Inside it’s a really low quality pub with no atmosphere… You have some crap on tap but there are also some really nice beer. I tried a Black Adder and I enjoy it. Service is ok, nothing more. I visited at midday maybe it’s the reason of bad ambiance… |
72 Visited on Friday 19th Feb 2016. Large old traditional ale pub a 5 min walk from Partick station. Large single room, plenty of levels of seating, large selection of ale on the blackboard plus a couple of keg offerings. Disappointingly the majority of the beer was from England and I’d tried a few of them but it was a good selection nevertheless.
Camra discount available. Service was good despite place being busy,
Would go back. |
56 Quite small and busy when I visited, limited selection but seemed well kept. |
