| Christian (159), Odense, Denmark | | October 14, 2011 A cosy dark pub with a nice layout spanning around the bar.Small, but good selection of quality cask ales. | | FatPhil (222), Tallinn, Estonia | | August 13, 2011 The new location is a beautiful cellar bar, it would be a real pleasure to relax in. Sarnies aren’t super cheap, but were a good size and pucker quality - make this your lunch stop in a Soutwark crawl, perhaps? One of our beers was dodgy, but it was replaced without hesitation, however the barman admitted it tasted dodgy to him when he put it on. Worth a repeat visit next time I’m in the UK, certainly. | | Dedollewaitor (207), Odense, Denmark | | August 10, 2011 Cozy place with a selection of 10-15 British ales - mostly casks in good condition. Friendly service and overall clean and neat. Very close to Market Porter and The Rake. | | Rune (234), Tromsø, Norway | | August 9, 2011 A pub that has moved from Stoney St., around the corner and a bit further up Southwark Street. The reemerged Wheatsheaf looks very anonymous from the outside, but the stairs opens up a spacious cellar pub with a newish and modern interior design. The long L-shape bar carries 10 operating hand pumps with interesting cask ales. My ales from B & T (Glider) and Nethergate (Augustinian) were in very fine shape. Polite service. Soft indie pop music. Quite likable and relaxing place at least early on a Saturday afternoon. I was in the area for quite a long time and can recommend the following beer crawl: The Rake, Southwark Tavern, Wheatsheaf, Market Porter and shopping at Utobeer (Brew Wharf was closed on this particular Saturday) (visited 30.07.2011). | | KyotoLefty (286), Kyoto, Japan | | August 7, 2011 Nice basement pub with lots of little rooms. Went in the morning, so it was empty. Might not be so nice if crowded. Good selection of taps, though I only had a couple. Looked ok. | | Travlr (639), Washington, Washington DC | | August 5, 2011 This bar is closed. | | rosenbergh (275), Helsinki, Finland | | June 26, 2011 8 casks (4 changing). Quite cozy cellar pub. Not very interesting nor cheap though. | | altonbrownd (146), Brussels, Belgium | | June 14, 2010 Nice pub in Southwark. Enjoyed here Red Car, Elgood’s, Great Oakley, Woods, Nethergate and Buffy’s on tap during the World Cup. Very relaxed. | | nate2g (320), Marlborough, New Zealand | | March 14, 2010 I arrived shortly after opening so the place was empty. There’s ten hand pumps available of locals but the quaility is simply hit or miss, with a few missing badly. The staff had a disintertested vibe and they didn’t appear like they would be up for a chat. The pub itself is quite cozy and has a cellar type feel. It’d be a nice place to drink with a group and not care too much about the beer. | | rabidbarfly (12), London, England | | July 21, 2009 This has now moved to underneath the hop exchange on southwark street.
There’s a selection of 7-10 bitters on cask, the usual selection of lagers and ciders.
The bar has stools around it so at busy times it’s not easy to get to the bar even the the place as a whole is huge.
Show live sports of 3 big plasma tellys.
Good place to come for a bit of banter with the friendly staff, management and regulars.
