| BeerandBlues2 (358), Lone Tree, Colorado | | January 6, 2012 This is a nice, open liquor warehouse in an interesting Baltimore neighborhood. There is a large selection of beer, wine, and spirits, including a decent cider and sake collection. Beers are available on shelves and some in coolers. There was a wide variety though not nearly as much to choose from as Stateline or Perfect Pour. The staff seemed friendly but stayed out of my hair and let me browse. Overall, prices are great for the area. | 9er (4), Maryland does not count - explanation | | December 20, 2011 My man Jed gets it done. He and the rest of the staff are very helpful and their beer selection is superb. Wine selection is average. | | rudolf (93), Buffalo, New York | | July 12, 2011 A bit warehouse-ey, but that’s fine - I’m here for beer, not ambiance. They have a solid selection of beer, though it is much less than what is available at The Perfect Pour. As Willblake mentioned there is a wall of 12oz bottles you can buy singles of. I did find bottles of Stillwater’s A Saison Darkly here that I was unable to find anywhere else in town. | | willblake (81), Bel Air, Maryland | | July 2, 2011 Among the best selections around, probably second (distant) only to State Line for stores within an hour of me. Enthusiastic and friendly staff, but they’re not always lingering around the beer area. Nice but small selection of singles. Prices are tops, often head-scratchingly low, and generally making it worth the long drive. Great wine prices, too, for those interested, and a small but outstanding selection of cheeses. | moocow9386 (9), Palo Alto, California does not count - explanation | | December 28, 2010 This place will always have a special place in my heart. The service here is great. The staff is usually pretty helpful for both wine and beer. They know what they have and don’t have. The store is modern and well organized. It does get crowded on a Friday or Saturday evening and can be difficult to find parking. They seem to have nice turnover in their beer, which is nice to see. Selection is definitely above average. There are a good amount of six packs in the freezer and on the shelves. There is a good variety in style. They do have some 12 oz singles, but the selection is small. This isn’t the place to come for a BYO 6 pack, but great to come for a more uncommon import or micro. They do a lot of tastings too. Most of them are wine, but they have some beer if you hit it right. Overall the place is really classy and feels like it belongs more in Mt. Washington or Baltimore County rather than Hampden. | | Steeeve (34), Ambler, Pennsylvania | | November 8, 2010 Made the trip out here after the lady at the Heavy Seas brewery told us it was the only place we could still find The Great Pumpkin on the shelves. Not only did we find plenty of them, but I was pleasantly surprised by the rest of their selection. In terms of wine... wow. I dont really drink wine, but the 5 giant aisles of wine from seemingly every country in the world tell you all you need to know. They have a nice selection of import beers. Lindemans, Rochefort, Delirium, Chimay, and plenty of others. They have a huge selection of 22 oz bottles and 4/6 packs of American micros. The only thing I found to be lacking was the selection of 12 oz singles, which comprised only one small shelf in the corner. Cant make any promises about freshness either, as it seemed a lot of stuff was quite dusty. Still, it’s a big one-stop-shop for all your alcohol and accompaniments, with very friendly and helpful staff and average or better prices. Definitely will go back if I return to Baltimore. | | scottw86 (22), Maryland | | October 3, 2010 A great little beer store! The focus is definitely on wine, but they have a surprisingly good selection of beer with very good prices. The service is very friendly and the store has a great atmosphere. I like that the registers are set up like a supermarket so there are multiple people to check you out at any time. Sadly, you can’t take singles from six-packs, but they do have a shelf that is made up of singles that are already taken from six -packs, so you have some choices. Overall a great store worth checking out. | | j12601 (214), Poughkeepsie, New York | | December 10, 2009 Stopped in on the way home from DC. Beautiful store, but lacking a little bit of a personal touch...workers seemed a bit disinterested and distant. Complimentary coffee and a nice selection of cheeses mostly made up for it (cheese samples would have completely negated it). Selection seemed pretty good, offering a ton of things that I didn’t even see in 3 days and 5-6 DC area stores. Nice lambic/gueuze selection, lots of singles, lots of local-ish things. Overall a rather nice place. | | paytoplay (10), , California | | September 23, 2009 Huge selection. Great prices. If you find the beer buyer buyers they know a lot. Super clean store and setup. Lots of things you can buy as singles and a fairly big cooler. Best I’ve found outside of CA by far. | | scraff (10), Baltimore, Maryland | | June 16, 2009 Great beer destination in Baltimore (about 10 minutes from downtown heading north). Brian the beer manager is as passionate about beer as those who are now reading this review. Certainly ask for him. Beer selection covers just about anything you could want to find in Maryland. Best news here is that singles are always available, and the overall pricing beats the pants off of many others in the Baltimore metro area. Wish another store (which I know quite well and love) would take notice. Anyway, I think a stop here should be essential... |
