Definitely wins for ambience, but thatís not really why you go to beer store. Others are trashier but might have more beer. I liked the layout and it definitely has a solid selection of American craft beer, my impression, though was that it was weaker on Belgians.

Nice selection of local beers. Friendly service. Very nice selection of quality stuff. The prices would keep me coming back. Nice place.

Stopped here during RBSG. Awesome stop, one of the highlights of the trip for sure. Great selection and I would love to come back here again.

Visited August 17, 2013 as part of RBSG.

These guys opened their cellar to us which was really cool. Naturally everyone grabbed the Cantillon gueuze bottles but they also had some other neat stuff like some vintage Black Ops, four years of Bourbon County, and some three or four year old Alaskan Barleywine. There was a lot of other stuff but I wasnt really looking to buy a ton of beer since Iíd have to ship it home. Upstairs in the regular store are two rooms, one for beer and one for wine. The beer side has an interesting selection. The usual locals, the usual imports, and the usual nation wide brands but mixed in there were plenty of obscure brands that I hadnít seen on shelves before. Pretty much everything is available in singles too. Cool place, would return.

Really nice selection of single 12 oz bottles for making mix 6-pks, the best in the area that Iíve found. Also attached to a wine store. I will probably be visiting this place quite a bit over the next few months, to try all the locally available beers in the Twin Cities.

We are from out of town and visited several beer stores in Minneapolis. This place is where we gladly dropped most of our budget, and the place that any BA reader should visit. There is a great collection of growlers. They had the original half acre growler AND the new one. Any time I see that, Iím SOLD (living on the north side of Chicago). And the Russian River growler, etc, etc, etc. The man working the beer side of the store was extremely knowledgeable, and another one of the customers was a certified beer tasting judge. It is a great place. Stop here if from out of town. Shop here if you live here. These places need to survive.

Good selection of singles with fair prices, with not many past expiration that I noticed.

I live out of town so Iím hitting all of the "essential" craft beer stores in the Twin cities. Have to say, Ale Jail was a let down. They have a good selection of everyday beers but I wasnít blown away. Having been to some other places in the area, Iíd rather go elsewhere. The one shining spot is the massive selection of singles to make your own six pack. Beyond that, no real reason to go out of your way to get here

Iíd read a lot about them and seen their website several times, so had pretty high expectations for the place. It was a bit of a let-down, to be honest. The wine and beer stores are crowded into rather smallish locations in two older, side-by-side neighborhood stores. The selection wasnít bad, but things were crowded in there so much I felt like I might knock over a display if I turned too fast. Service wasnít bad, but I knew what I was looking for (and largely found it, too). Price was maybe a bit higher than similar stores specializing in unique beers and local microbrews. Not sure it was really worth the extra effort to seek out.
