When it started it was great. Staff were friendly. After becoming highly popular staff didnít care and being a loyalist didnít matter. Last time we went we discovered they shut down. They now only have their Southbank venue. Saw an old goodie bartender from their and he agreed they had become toxic so he left. A shame to create a good thing and then ruin it. Good thing there are lots of good craft beer options in Brisbane like Bloodhound and The Scratch and Death Valley.
I loved this cosy backstreet venue. Visited with fellow Ratebeerian Nate2g on 6th September 2015. Once past the kitchen a chilled intimate atmosphere is afforded by subdued dťcor and tungsten lighting. Friendly, knowledgeable staff dispense a beer range that eschews the ubiquitous in favour of the unusual - I especially liked Cavalier Cherry Sour. Delicious food, too - I thoroughly enjoyed my bowl of Grandma Kennedyís chilli. Well worth the effort of finding - do visit while in Brisbane, you will not be disappointed.
Visited on a Friday afternoon in August 2014. This place is located very close to Green Beacon. The place itself was rather small and a bit dark but not too crowded. One could sit inside or outside.
They had 10 beers on tap and quite alot of bottles. The food was tasty, I had a chili.
Friendly and fast service. The audience was on the young and hip side. Still a nice place to visit.
Another solid addition to the Brisbane beer scene. The kitchen greets you walking in and the bar can be found further along in a rather dimly lit setting. Good options beer wise with local breweries and interstate offerings. Staff know their stuff. BBQ available out front. Appears to be a very popular hangout.
If the Scratch is relaxed and unpretentious this is the complete opposite. A thin air of detached cool permeates a rather drab setting. Still decent tap list. Bring your beard and unkempt hair, check shirt and hipster attitude and youll be fine.
Visited July 20, 2013. Pretty much around the corner from Green Beacon, walked over. $10 minimum of you want to pay with a card. Cozy place with some various seating indoors, also some outdoors seating under a tent like roof. Nice tap selection, knowledgeable nice staff. I can see myself coming back if in Brisbane again. Nice with a place where everyone drinks and enjoy craft beer and not a poker machine in sight (well, I didnít see any). Didnít eat, but some mates had chicken wings that they raved about, seemed very nice. Seems like a place where you can hang alone, with a mate, or with a group. First sat with my one mate, then joined up with the group of homebrewers that had taken seats outside.
Been here twice and have really enjoyed both tipples. Beautiful staff, some very difficult to find stuff in the bottles, and great chilli dogs makes it a winner. The first time I made the trip, the boys had a Feral tap takeover. Great to see!
