RateBeer Brew Tour Guide's Comments
Great selection of domestic and imported beers, including rare Belgians, a whole slew of beers from eastern Europe, and a bunch of well-regarded SoCal brews. If you can’t find it at Tops, you probably can’t find it in Arizona.

| nbutler11 (27), Phoenix, Arizona | | August 12, 2008 Unsuspecting liqour depot on University Ave. Easy to miss, but worth a visit for anyone in Tempe. Otherwise, the selection here really isn’t anything that you can’t find at BevMo or AJ’s. | | Hophead22 (44), Redlands, California | | July 12, 2008 Always a must stop whenever I visit Phoenix. Usually 4-5 beers if not more that I have been looking for and can’t find in Ca. I usually spend way too much as well, and I rarely even look at the imports, which are very numerous. Must stop for the beer traveller. | | blutt59 (14), Dallas, Texas | | June 26, 2008 Very good selection of Belgian and West Coast beer and pretty easy to find near ASU, great service and helpful people, prices were average to maybe a bit below avg. | | Taverner (51), San Ramon, California | | June 19, 2008 Crammed wall to wall with beer and wine, as well tequila for the agave fans. Lots of midwest and SoCal brews. The folks who run this place are HELLA COOL! Great place! | BeerIsMyGod (4), does not count - explanation | | May 27, 2008 It’s crammed to wall to wall with beverage. Their beer selection is ridiculously vast. If you’re looking for your favorite specialty brew, or yearning for something new, you will find it here. Great place. | | SuperDave70 (11), Beautiful Sunny Mesa, Arizona | | April 5, 2008 Great selection, friendly people, and they will sell anything by the bottle. It’s usually not my first place I go to look for something, since I live very close to Sun Devil. But if I can’t find it there, this is next on the list. | | General_Gao (207), Iowa City, Iowa | | March 2, 2008 Great place located in the kind of nondescript strip mall that is so ubiquitous in the greater Phoenix area. I was particularly struck by their large selection of bombers. I picked up some Green Flash Belgian IPA, Port High Tide, and Ale Smith X, among other things. They also have a relatively long isle devoted to Belgians from which I grabbed a bottle of Struise Pannepøt (unfortunately there was no Struise Pannepot). Although it was my first visit, I would give this place the nod over Sun Devil Liquors, but just barely. | | eaglefan538 (90), Wilmington, Delaware | | January 18, 2008 Wow, a shopping delight, although I haven’t been yet to Sun Devil Liquors. By far, a greater selection than Papago, although the latter has the benefit of great taps AND a nice cooler section. AleSmith bottles lined up cases deep, along with Port Brewing and other southern Cali specialties (Oaked Arrogant Bastard to name only one). The service is college-age-like, yet super friendly and helpful, adding in a case discount and providing a box (and box tape) to pack the goodies in for the plane commute home. If your goal is primarily shopping, I can’t imagine this getting beat out in Phoenix, although the combo Papago drink and shop is hard to beat. | | hellbilly (44), scottsdale über alles, Arizona | | May 21, 2007 certainly cleaner and brighter than sun devil. SD probably has more beer but i’d be scared to buy it due to the amount of dust. they must get a lot of skunked european beers because so much of it is hard to access. i still like t’s. they’ll get you anyhting if you ask. | | bhensonb (248), Woodland, California | | February 7, 2007 Went from downtown on the Red line. There’s a stop just at the store. Crowded and a bit dusty with rows and rows. Singles can be bought out of multi-packs. Lots of bombers. Found a 1998 Elizabethan Ale. More California selection than I have ever seen in California. In terms of selection it’s in between Ledger’s in Berkeley and Bottleworks in Seattle. Bought 24 beers I’ve never had before. Huge number of east European beers. | View Page : 1 2 3
