SimplySike (4), The Hague, Netherlands does not count - explanation | | May 17, 2012 A dark bar with a huge bottle list and some good reading about the beers :). Place looks good wood and bricks. Wooden chairs and tables. Staff seems nice. | | SaintMatty (128), Uppsala, Sweden | | April 22, 2012 This place is well worth visiting. Friendly service and an impressive range of beers. Watch out for the sometimes over zealous prostitutes in the nearby red light district, though! | | Rastacouere (581), Montréal, Quebec | | November 7, 2011 Very civilized pub in a white building that looks like nothing, but the pub is actually beautiful with a long bar at a fun angle, plenty of glass and fine wooden furniture. On the outskirts of Gent’s center, it feels quiet and peaceful in there. The bottle list is one of the best in town. Even though the theme is obviously Trappist ales, they don’t carry the Westys. They carry plenty of others though with something for everyone being offered. One of my favourite in Gent.
| | bernatbeer (66), barcelona, Spain | | October 21, 2011 Interesante lista de cervezas belgas,nada fuera de lo normal.Casi siempre lleno por las noches.ideal para tomar un par de cervezas. | | Mathieu87 (59), Ganshoren, Belgium | | July 28, 2011 [ Updated July 29, 2011 ] Very nice beer-place.
It has been a while since I’ve been here, so I’ll re-rate this one soon!
But they have a nice beer selection. The lady behind the bar is very friendly.
Update: been there again yesterday ;)
As I rememberd, nice selection of beers and a nice lady behind the bar, who knows her beers! | | tderoeck (93), Gent, Belgium | | July 5, 2011 Good beer list, knowledgeable owner. Crappy service, probably because the place is understaffed: usually one (!) guy serving the whole place which is about 120 persons at maximum capacity, while the owner stays behind the bar. Good ambiance, although it used to be always very smoky. But I haven’t been there since the no-smoking law is in order. Hope it’s better now! Prices are rather high (4.5€ for a Rodenbach Grand Cru, real geuzes start at around 7 and go up till 11 for 37.5cl). Snacks are way overpriced. A good place for a drink or two, but not for the whole night, unless money is no problem to you. | | Strebs (76), St. Louis, Missouri | | May 12, 2011 [ Updated September 21, 2011 ] Very casual and laid back place on the secondary square in Ghent. Service was very prompt, helpful, and friendly. Beer selection was ordinary for Belgium, which means it was great! This would be my first choice in Ghent to get away from the tourist crush in other more highly visible venues. | | nate2g (320), Marlborough, New Zealand | | March 22, 2011 Smoky pub tucked away right at the end of Brabantdam. Nice selection. Attentive staff. Plates of cheese and meats available. I liked it. | | Travlr (639), Washington, Washington DC | | July 6, 2010 Smallish pub on the edge of the old Gent center. Decent list of bottles, handful of drafts. Mix of locals and tourists. Small patio garden. Worth a stop if you’re in the area. | | sebletitje (200), Enghien, Belgium | | June 30, 2010 Visited with Travlr
Nice little pub in small streets of Gent, wide choice of beers with emphasis on Trappist but also many other Belgian beers and local Gent beers.
Inside is nice with an older building/café atmosphere.
Service was nice, and we even ran into other beer geeks.
They have a nice little back room/veranda that was just too warm. Outside seating is nice and not too noisy.
