10 reviews for Trion Tavern
Hoffdawg47 (2), , does not count - explanation | | November 20, 2009 This place has the best beer selection in northern indiana !! Bells, dogfish , three floyds, stone , chimay ! framboise ! and both deleriium tremens and nocturnm !! plus many more great microbrews ! a must see !! get out of the fort and into the haven !!!!! | temporrari (8), Fort Wayne, Indiana does not count - explanation | | July 19, 2009 Wow. 45 beers on tap! We got there about 10:15 last night. There were perhaps 6 other patrons. Surprising. Small cozy place, nothing fancy. Single pool table. My kind of place really. While sipping on a Founders Porter, the owner came out and asked if we were drinking Guinness. I laughed. He talked to us for about 10 minutes and gave us 3 free samples. Sweet! They were out of Dreadnaught so we drank Unearthly. Fried sampler platter hit the spot. I will return very soon to this establishment. | screigh (4), Fort Wayne, Indiana does not count - explanation | | June 21, 2009 What a great place. The bartenders were helpful and friendly. Food was far better than I had expected. Beers...by far the best selection anywhere in NE Indiana. The night we went there was 45 beers on tap from Three Floyds, Founders, Dogfish Head and Southern Tier just to name a few. Go for the beer sampler...great deal. | TheKernel (2), New Haven, Indiana does not count - explanation | | April 14, 2009 I grew up in new haven so the trion tavern has been a favorite of mine for quite some time now. Having seen it go through some changes in ownership and management i think that the establishment is at one of its highest in a while. The owner Greg is a very nice guy who will sit down and take you suggestions and comments in person (unlike some places that use the oh so personal card system). The beers that he has always on tap are good beers but also goes one up with some of the temporary beers. And, as an ex smoker or trying to quit smoker the fact that you can smoke is nice when its been a long day and you just dont want to go out and smoke in the rain. Overall great place with a good pub atmosphere and great staff. | hopslovin (8), Fort Wayne, Indiana does not count - explanation | | March 15, 2009 Best tap selection in NE Indiana hands down. Recently had Three Floyds Behemoth, DFH Palo Santo Marron, and Bells Bourbon Barrel Expedition/Double Cream Stout just to name a few. Food is pub fare, but very tasty and very reasonable. Greg, the owner, is very friendly and he is really trying to make his establishment a craft beer destination. A must visit if in the area. | redwing5 (1), Indiana does not count - explanation | | February 15, 2009 I’m a little biased, because I’m actually employed there, But I’ll shoot you straight. If I’m anything, I’m honest. I’ve heard many of the people I serve beer to talk about this website so I figured I better check it out. If you come to The Trion, ask for Aaron. For North East Indiana I think we’ve got a hell-uv’a selection of good beer, but I’m not here to preach, I’m here to learn. | | hotstuff (32), Indiana | | February 11, 2009 First time visit on 2/5/09. Did not like the fact that smoking is allowed in the bar so sat in the family room which made me feel isolated from the rest of this establishment. Service was friendly and timely. Ordered the fish and chips which was very good. The Bells Bourbon Barrell Double Cream/Expedition Stout beer was excellent! Thanks to Greg for being able to offer this beer to people like myself who enjoy and appreciate "good" beer! A good visit; however, I enjoy sitting in the bar area when at a bar but it was just too smokey when I was there. | bfogt (1), Fort Wayne, Indiana does not count - explanation | | January 9, 2009 Repeated visits reveals some oddities. Their food inventory isn’t always well managed so that if they’re out of something you ordered, the kitchen may just substitute on their own. They’ve been out of ketchup for lunch. They also have a difficult time keeping up with their beer inventory. I was told last night that one of their loyal customers keeps the list updated at GreatBeer.com which I assume to be here. But the list had only 1, so I’ll try to get as many as I can remember in. What this means is that all of the tables have ads for beers they no longer have on tap. But they taps are easy to identify and they do have quite a range. Overall, the food is reasonable and the beer selection is really good for a place like this. Plus you can smoke pipes and cigars. What more could you ask for these days? | enzofan (1), Fort Wayne, Indiana does not count - explanation | | October 5, 2008 Just visited this place for the first time this week, and they have the best beer selection in the Fort Wayne area. On tap - Breckenridge 471, Arrogant Bastard, Gumballhead, Bells Expedition Stout, just to name a few. I thought I died and went to heaven! Best of all - they have a non smoking family room so the whole family can enjoy the food and I can have great beer. Although my focus is the beer, the food (keep in mind this is a tavern), service and the owner, Greg, are great. We will be spending alot of time here!! Only negative- the bar can get a bit smokey, but given the beer selection - I can work through it. | bdigital (8), Ft Wayne, Indiana does not count - explanation | | July 4, 2008 [ Updated May 3, 2009 ] This is an established bar that has recently decided to start making a switch over to more of a microbrew selection. Right now they have Gumballhead, Upland Dragonfly IPA, Oberon and Rogue Dead Guy on draft in addition to some Sam Adams and Leinenkugels stuff. The owner, Greg, is a really nice guy who is genuinely interested in the micro scene and is constantly improving his selection...my wife and I requested Gumballhead and he didn’t hesitate to put it on. My one complaint about the place is that you can still smoke in there, but that is strictly a personal thing. Food is quite good and the service is always top notch. |
