| deyholla (90), Waukesha, Wisconsin | | May 17, 2012 A surprising find just north of the border and right off the highway. A large sports bar type place with a large bar in the middle surrounded by tables. A nice selection of mainly Wisconsin beers. Prices were very competitive and service was fine. Didn’t try the food but it looked fine. | makinejw (3), , does not count - explanation | | April 28, 2012 my go to beer pub. Food service is slow but the bar grub is good. Bar staff knows beers well. A ton of brews on tap. | | ck1 (19), Illinois | | April 11, 2012 Nice place. Tons of beer--probably almost half the taps are Wisconsins. Very good food also, and all at below Chicago area prices. Great place to stop in conjunction with Woodmans. They often run specials ($1 off Founders every Thursday night I think!!). Just watch out for flying monkeys. | jabo134 (1), Illinois does not count - explanation | | February 7, 2012 Has 86 taps, a great place to grab lunch and a beer. | | savnac (155), Anchorage, Alaska | | December 6, 2011 Had lunch here on the way up to Milwaukee, great location right off the highway. Big typical bar, a bit dingy but pretty clean. Service was excellent, knowledgeable staff and great recommendations. Huge selection of mid-west, Wisconsin, and micro beers. Food was good and prices seemed great. This is a great place and would definitely stop here again. | | JoePeesie (63), Long Lake, Illinois | | August 30, 2011 Great pub to grab a beer at. It’s nothing to special, it’s a bar. I would bring my family there for lunch, in the evening its more of a bar type crowd.
Burgers are quite good, a step above bar food, the rest of the menu is basic bar food.
The beer selection is great last time I was in there I think they were up to 105 taps (or so they said)
Its easily accessible on the frontage road adjacent to I94. If you passing thru hit this place for lunch then head about a half mile south to hwy 50 and hit Woodman’s grocery store. They have a huge selection on WI beers and very good pricing. | | davidn17 (11), Wisconsin | | June 27, 2011 Right off the Kenosha exit of 94. This place is awesome. Pretty small on the inside, but a huge tap selection. Even more bottles. Went there for the first time to have a pour from a 2008 barrel of 120 minute. They don’t have many super rare beers, but they get them every once in a while. Highly recommend this place. | | LabRat0369 (15), Somers, Wisconsin | | April 12, 2011 Came here hoping it wasn’t the nightmare I experienced with Captain Mike’s downtown. I was relieved to find it’s different out here. More room means more availability - 86 beer on tap. About half were Wisconsin brews, the bottle selection was great as well. Service was much better than downtown, and while the food was standard bar fare, at least it was prompt. Careful - some of their beer check in at over 15%. | BCAR (8), Naperville, Illinois does not count - explanation | | January 3, 2010 Great find. Right on I-94. Roughly 60 beers on tap, half being Wisconsin micro and some macrobrews. The rest were divided between American micros and Europen imports.
Excellent place to watch any sporting event with a couple dozen flat screens.
Bar is a crazy design, roughly a U-Shape but jogs in and out a few times. Unique high ceiling house which is helpful to dissipate cigarette smoke (really my only knock).
Food was well made pub food. Thin crust pizza is a stand-out.
Staff was very friendly. | | esjaygee (204), Oak Creek, Wisconsin | | October 22, 2009 [ Updated May 21, 2011 ] The first time I came here, I hated it. It was smoky, the crowd was rude and the food sucked. This time, it’s smoke-free, the food was halfway decent and the crowd was a wash. The tap list they provided us was very outdated but there will still enough decent selections on the tap list. The rather large chalkboard had the words “Westvleteren 12” on it, but apparently they were out. Hmm, didn’t know you could get that one anywhere, let alone a highway bar in Kenosha. I went with the Man vs Food three burger deal and felt like I was on TV as people stopped by to check out me tackling my burger. It was supper the next night too, so not a bad value for 9.99. I seem to like this place more everytime I go and now they have 86 beers on tap and there’s always a few I haven’t had. The fact that they have good food makes it the best beer bar I’ve been to in the state so far. They also sell beer to go in growlers, though it seems a little pricey - $28 for the growler and then 40% off beers - So it would cost $40 to fill up a growler of a regular $5 beer they serve in pints or $12 for the fill alone. |
