Right next to the Castle Rock brewery, a few steps past the train station. Nice range of Castle Rock beers, in good condition. Main room of the pub used to be three separate rooms, it looks like. Helpful young staff. Worth the short walk.

Most recent visit in October 2014. 1930s, art-deco-ish exterior. Comfortable but fairly basic inside. Some might think it a touch shabby. This place is right next to the Castle Rock brewery and acts as the brewery tap so you’d expect the emphasis to be on Castle Rock beers and that they’d be in good shape. It is and they are. The largest range of Castle Rock beers around town so this is the logical place if you are seeking them out, although you may well find most (although not as many in one place) in some of the other Castle Rock pubs, of which there are a fair few. Twelve handpumps, the majority being Castle Rock but with a good sprinkling of guests too. Most people visiting Nottingham will want to hit this place. Handy for the station too if you’ve got a bit of time to kill before catching a train.

Visited for a quick pint after visiting Meadow Lane to see Notts County. Tidy pub, with loads of cask Castle Rock and a smattering of keg. Slightly lacking in warm fittings, but a lovely space none the least.

Visited October 2014, with beery friends :-). Old traditionel pub with a good range of their own beers ( Castle Rock ). The beers are served in good condition and with a smile from the friendly staff. Rather spacy place, and within walking distance from trainstation / city center. For sure worh a visit.

A spacious and friendly pub with a full range of Castle Rock beers on offer, plus some guests (they had Lincoln Green on when I was there). The staff were friendly and the service was polite. Located close to the train station so it’s a good first or last stop.

Castle Rock brewery tap close to the main railway station, so it makes an easy visit, although it feels like it is on an industrial estate. Popular and friendly, fairly basic inside, nothing wrong with that. A good compliment of the Castle Rock beers plus the odd guest and seasonal. Always high on our list for visits to Nottingham.

Visited the Vat & Fiddle last time I went to a Forest away game. Quick 5 minutes walk from the station so convenient for any of the City/County grounds or Trent Bridge. Place has always been busy as the 2 times I’ve been have been on a match day, friendly enough - no one looking for trouble, service held up well also. Castle Rock beers as you’d expect a good 8 or so available on my visits all in decent nick.

Castle Rock’s brewery tap.
The Vat and Fiddle has a great line up of Castle Rock beers (all in good condition, as you’d expect at the brewery tap) and a couple of guests. Unfortunately the pub itself feels a bit frayed at the edges although it’s pleasant enough and, as others have said, very handy for the station. There’s a visitor centre next door and live music on Sundays. (Visited 16 July 2012).
