January 12, 2012 First it was Weissbräu, then for a short time Freischem’s, now it is Weisbräu zu Köln. The brewmaster from Weisbräu is back as well. The food menu has some Bavarian influence. Besides Kölsch they also have Weizen and Schwarzbier. You can see quite a lot of the brewing kit behind glass. |

April 14, 2010 This place used to be called Weissbraeu. They do their own Koelsch which was delicious as well as a stout! Nearest station in Koeln Sud, 500 yards, or a #16 tram from the Hauptbahnhof. |

January 31, 2009 Off centre brewpub. I had nice chat with brewmaster. Once they know you they are very friedndly. It is good to see more than one beer on tap in Koln. Worth the trek. |

January 23, 2008 [ Updated August 18, 2008 ] A pretty brewpub which is a bit off-center opposed to most other Kölsch brewpubs. There were quite a lot of people when I was there but I wouldn’t say it was crowded. The crowd is younger than in most Kölsch brewpubs and a lot of the people seemed like businessmen. A bit smoky. The service was friendly and even got more friendly after the waiter saw I’m writing notes and said ’’Oh! A beer man!’’ The beers are nothing exceptional but still enjoyable. This was a nice experience on a rainy summer evening. |

November 11, 2007 Semi-traditional new brewpub in Cologne on the site of a former brewery, that ceased brewing in the 1920’s. High ceilings, half-pannelled walls and a copper mash-tun right behind the main door create a quite cozy and traditional atmosphere. The waiters and waitresses are quite young, that is not usual in a traditional Cologne brewpub, but may be the reason for the fact, that this local is quite popular with younger people. The beers are not so nasty as in the most of the modern german Hausbrauereien, but still quite bland....... |

June 9, 2007 Had a very nice time downstairs, possibly my favourite stop in Köln, but they seemed to be having some kind of disco fiesta upstairs and that around 4 p.m. a saturday! The Kölsch is one of the finest, very fresh and well hopped yet with a firm and almost full body. This was worth more than one glass despite wanting to do all the vital pubs of the city in one day. Excellent come-through service kept making sure I was satisfied. The schwarz and weiyen are pleasant additions, but really did not hold up. |

I Recommend this place to every one that goes to Cologne.

June 27, 2006 A more ’hip’ brewpub in Cologne. It felt more like an American style brewpub in Germany than a traditional Cologne Kolsch brewpub. I was actually served by a waitress, not a waiter with a blue apron. Service was a bit slow, that being said because I did not get a full glass immediately upon placing an empty on my table. The crowd seemed to be 20-30 year old professional types. It is located a good walk from the Altstadt. If you have a large group (or are really thirsty) you can order a 10 liter barrel for your table. |
