| rumproasts (34), Grand Rapids, Michigan | | May 3, 2012 this place is a zoo, but the bar is outstanding if you can get a seat. i get the feeling that they just tap kegs at random, so you’ll never know what you’ll find. definitely some quality stuff though. | | nbondi (39), Chicago, Illinois | | August 10, 2011 Good and varied selection of local and import micros. You won’t find anything that will knock your socks off here, but why would you expect to? Normal prices. Diamond in the rough is the bar in the store. Sit down for a CHEAP beer at the bar where they will likely have something that will knock your socks off! | | jrallen34 (207), Chicago, Illinois | | April 9, 2011 Great place to shop for food and beer. They have a bar with 10 taps, usually really good to drink while shopping. The beer selection is pretty good, usually one of the only places in town to get Three Floyds. Not a destination but if you’re look to get groceries and beer at once, your best bet. | | SamGamgee (182), down the whirlpool, California | | January 5, 2011 I absolutely love this place. Awesome food, awesome bottle selection, and a great beer bar all in one. We don’t have bars in any whole foods by me in California, so this pretty much blew my mind when I first came here. This became a frequent lunch spot during class, as it’s only a five minute walk from Siebel. They have an extensive prepared food section, with everything from mexican to sushi to diner food. The vegan pizza was amazing. Then you take your food over to the bar and they have like 15 taps of all quality beers, with a nice mix of local and not-so-local. They also have frequent tastings and events. I’m nominating this for best grocery store ever. Oh, and as far as bottles go, the vast majority are kept cold, with mostly just Belgian stuff out of the cooler. | lavasoap (1), Illinois does not count - explanation | | September 12, 2010 This place is weird. Good Weird. It is a grocery store, with 2 bars. Beer Bar up front with 16 taps focused on local and seasonals. You can take your beer shopping with you. This means you can get a beer on your way in, head back to the food court area and get some food, and take said food back to the bar and have another. | | NobleSquirrel (161), Chicago, Illinois | | July 9, 2010 Pretty damn cool place to go. They do have a bar at the front of the store with a good tap selection. Plus, you can order food and have it delivered to you from within the store. The package section is decent with lots of locals. Occasionaly there is a solid find, but mostly just pretty standard stuff.
| | hombrepalo (100), Chicago, Illinois | | July 8, 2010 Whole Foods superstore! This place has everything! 8 or so different food locations inside the store, a wine bar, beer bar, and even a patio. The location is prime! Selection on tap is about 12 or so, with some above average selections like Founders, Stone, Bells, Three Floyds and others that are easily found at many other beer bar locations. they also have some bottles but really didn’t get a chance to check those. The cool thing is that you can get your drink and do your shopping while drinking. The store’s selection is pretty good too. Lots of bombers and six packs (cannot break a six). A bit on the pricey side for both food and drinks but not by too much. Overall a nice place if you are doing grocery shopping but nothing special if you are looking for a good bar atmosphere. | | lushawn (164), Boston, Massachusetts | | March 23, 2010 lincoln park might suck, but this whole foods is tight. You can buy draft beer at a bar right when you walk in and carry it around with you. I got a la folie and the GF got a brian boru. They had maybe 12-15 taps but I don’t remember exactly how many. Anyways, this sets the tone for a nice visit. They had all the beers you might expect plus some 2009 angels share brandy barrel, GI night stalker, and other nice stuff. Not a terribly deep selection, but you can most likely find something you want to drink that night. For a whole foods, the food selection is above average. |
