| culchiem (25), , Germany | | May 22, 2012 Super little place, a little off the tourist trail in a cellar. About 20 taps mainly with different czech micros, what is on is on A4 sheets over the bar which would imply they change regularly. Didn’t have the food. Staff are friendly, and really keen to help. Place is obscenely cheap. | | Bryne (153), , Norway | | March 4, 2012 For the moment, the best pub in Praha! First time I visited Zly Casy was in 2009. Since then, the amount of draught beers on tap has exploded (and the toilet facilities has also improved) The beer range is fantastic! All kind of new beer from small obscure Czech breweries, and even two from Mahrs, Bamberg. Excellent service and the staff know their beers. The tap range is displayed on "beer cards" above the bar. You can also read about the beers in a booklet. During my second visit, at Saturday night, I met by chance Max Bahnson, The Pivni Filosof. What a day! (Visited 23. and 25th February 2012) | | JanBanan (12), , | | February 2, 2012 Without doubt the best pub in Praha! Great service, great atmosphere, non-smoking section (by the bar and best room in the pub), garden for hot summer days, great food (even for me who aint a big fan of Czech cuisine, but here it is really done well and goes so well with the brews), easy to find, ten minutes by tram for city center and of really great assortment of around 24 excellent draft brews. My only gripe with this place is that it´s hard at times to get a table... | | Beerlando (70), Orlando, Florida | | January 18, 2012 Summer 2011. Small underground pub about 15 minutes by car outside the city center. Upon entering at street level, you walk down a rather seedy looking staircase before reaching the pub below. I have to admit, at first glance, I regretted bringing my wife there, as I could tell she was put off by the appearance. Communication was a bit of a challenge, as the bartender spoke no English and I no Czech, so we were pretty much limited to pointing and nodding. There is smoking allowed (at least it wasn’t stopped when I was there), which I detest, but it wasn’t too bad until it started to get crowded. The selection was very solid, if not a bit daunting for someone unfamiliar with the various Czech micros they had on draft. Overall, it’s a must visit when in Prague, and I’d definitely go back. | | Cuso (82), Bratislava, Slovak Republic | | January 10, 2012 Nice selection of.draught Czech beers from craft breweries and some international beers in bottles. Nice atmosphere, friendly staff. I didn’t try food there, I need to have space in my stomach for beer. Top location in Prague. | | 3fourths (962), Boulder, Colorado | | December 5, 2011 A beer-focused bar well-known for supplying small and medium sized craft beer on tap only, as members of the P.I.V. Alliance (www.aliancepiv.cz) do. The lower portion is smoke-free though the cloud does waft in from up the stairs, but for the Czech Republic you have to give these guys credit for trying, at least. Beer selection is outstanding, with 0.3 and 0.5L pours available, as is standard. Zly Casy should be considered the top bar in Prague, but further down the ratebeer list is the equally-impressive Kulovy Blesk, closer to the city center and train station, and also a P.I.V. Allieance member. You can’t go to Zly Casy without hitting Kulovy Blesk as well. | | Svesse (139), Hässelby, Sweden | | November 13, 2011 Lovely beer bar tucked away in the non touristificated area of Nusle south of the city center. It’s possible to walk here from tube station Vysehrad, but the easiest way is to take tram 11 from Muzeum or IP Pavlova. It stops more or less outside the door. There’s an excellent beer garden at the back of the building. But the heart of the place is the basement bar. Just follow the sound downstairs and take at seat at one of the small wooden tables or at the bar. Beer? Yes, 24 ever rotating taps, mainly with beer from small Czech brewers, you’ve never heard of most of them and you won’t be able to pronounce some of them. 3 or 4 imported draught beers as well. On my visit late July 2011 there were several new beers on every evening. Bottle selection isn’t huge, but the quality and mix is quite impressive. Service is friendly, efficient and very knowledgeable. Food is a bit different, but quite nice. In short, this is a must visit and worth a trip from tourist Prague. | | Derek881 (34), Frederick, Maryland | | October 2, 2011 An excellent underground bar in Prague with an amazing selection of Czech beers on tap and a very friendly, helpful staff. They had about 20 different Czech beers on tap, and provided detailed descriptions, partially in English. The beers were quite good and well-priced. The bar was in the basement and was fairly informal with an inviting, friendly atmosphere. Definitely worth a visit, and I would love to go again. I did not try the food. | | YULbier (209), Brno, Czech Republic | | September 29, 2011 Largest selection of small czech breweries under the same roof in Prague. Always very crowded so try to go early. They have now a separate room for smoking upstairs which is a plus for the ambiance. Service is not very rapid, at least when you order at the bar, and not very friendly for non-czech people. It’s the only reason why I don’t give them a perfect score. Still, a great bar. | | Countbeer (105), Best of Eindhoven ohne Brauhaus, Netherlands | | September 10, 2011 Outside city center of Prague, enter this place it’s kind of smokey, but when walking down the stairs a nice brown interrior and cellar/dungeon kind of bar is what is to be found, no to less smoke here.
The staff didn’t speak any English or German, but with some hands and words in all languages we got our drinks. Ok selection of Czech micro’s. The food smelled good, but we didn’t have any. Prices are normal (for Czech standards).
Guess this is the best beer bar in Czech, it was a refreshment in between all those Bohemian Pilsners and Pils/Lagers. Nice to have visit this place. |
