| gvmdw7 (31), California | | March 21, 2012 This is a beer rating website, so that was my primary focus with this rating. Unfortunately there are only 4 beers on tap, and the ESB was the best, but the beer left something to be deesired. That being said, the food was excellent. It had a great pub atmosphere, but I have a soft spot for exposed brick. If nothing else, the food is well worth the trip | | craftycarl21 (59), Washington, Washington DC | | April 30, 2011 Very cool place a block away from USC in Columbia. Great atmosphere with delicious food- had a really good salad. Beer is average to good, not a huge selection but still tasty stuff. Definitely worth checking out if you’re in town. | | beernovice39 (146), South Carolina | | April 27, 2011 Great hole in the wall feel here. 3 beers, wheat, esb and pale on always with a fourth rotating and one guest. Great service. Next time will try some of the food. | lambchop (6), South Carolina does not count - explanation | | April 1, 2011 Not too much of a selection but the ESB was rather spectacular. Good food amd kist a rather good place to hang out.; | | Velkyal (62), Charlottesville, Virginia | | January 6, 2011 [ Updated November 28, 2011 ] The beer is nice and the food very nice. The barman was excellent and the place felt like a proper pub instead of some poncey beer bar. Just my kind of place.
Re-visit: went on Saturday evening after Thanksgiving. Again very good beer, the ESB was excellent and the stout a solid offering. Service was prompt and friendly, an all round good time again! | devilsuit (4), South Carolina does not count - explanation | | October 20, 2010 Very friendly, neighborhood bar atmosphere. Beers are good, if not great & the ESB is a personal favorite. Kitchen gets many menu items locally, so food is fresh & tasty! | DrinkEmUpJones (6), Georgia does not count - explanation | | June 2, 2010 The ambiance here is like a "nice dive." Service is outstanding and the food (specialty pizza, prosciutto appetizer & pulled pork sandwich) was STELLAR. The beers, however--and there were only 4 of them--were just OK. But that’s OK when pints only cost $3.75 (!!??). Next time I swing through Columbia, I will definitely make it a point to stop here again. | | Pookie9121 (18), Atlanta, Georgia | | March 20, 2010 A nice little place. The ambiance is great. Not many places you can go in South Carolina and see animal heads on the wall. The ESB here is excellent. | | drseusszb200 (15), Florida | | September 26, 2009 bar looks cool from the street diddnt have any food and teh beer was nothing special. i had the rye porter which was very good the pale ale which wasnt that good and the whit | USCBeerMan (7), Columbia, South Carolina does not count - explanation | | March 30, 2009 A stones throw away from the University of South Carolina, this Brewpub, "Hunter-Gatherer", is a place I have heard of and driven by many times without knowing what a gem it is. There are many places to go have a good mass produced beer in Columbia, SC, but I must say the atmosphere of this establishment is rustically elegant and welcoming to all. The service has been exceptionally friendly and helpful. the Selection is nothing to write home about but the food menu is intriguing. The beer is all house with a guest tap or two. the value for the food, drink, and atmosphere is very pleasant. the establishment is a gem. |
