February 6, 2012 Nice English style pub for a place in Iowa. The selection of beers was small but decent. Service was a little slow. The atmosphere was a bit crowded and stuffy. Still, somewhere I would probably come back to. |

December 8, 2011 I was a little disappointed at the small selection on tap but ask the barkeep. He’ll pour you a bottle of something you may have never tried before. |

May 31, 2011 They pretty good selection, specialized for Belgian and British brews. Most of the people I saw would split bottles with a bunch of friends. It was a cool place, good selection. |

January 22, 2011 Feels like an authentic British Pub. Knowledgeable staff. Decent beer selection (British/US downstairs and Belgium upstairs) I give them an extra point for that amazing scotch collection. Fish and Chips were legit! Beer was pricey but not unreasonable. Very cool place..A must visit if you are unfortunate enough to have to go to Des Moine. |

December 11, 2010 They have a pretty nice selection here with a couple of things on tap I have only seen bottled before. The pub atmosphere is decent with an obvious party bar feel to it. The patio is nice in the summer time. Worth a stop if you want the pub atmosphere. The food is good as long as you don’t mind having everything fried in some way. A fun place. |

July 1, 2010 Easily the most disappointing of the Court Avenue Mafia bars. They have never had anything exciting on tap. Never have real ale or casks. Least friendly staff of the Company bars. |

February 27, 2009 The ambiance of this place is great. The lighting is usually turned down low and it makes you feel like you are walking into an nice pub. The also have a great patio that is open when the weather is nice. The service is a little on the slow end. If you can find a place at the bar you get helped right away but if you sit at a table it seems to take forever. The selection is decent. They cover the English ales really well and it’s the only place where I can go get an Old Speckled Hen. I love the food. It has a great European flavor and the fish and chips are spot on. The value is ok, a little over priced. If you are looking for a nice pub feel this is the place to go. The food is great and they have the best English beer selection in town. |

February 4, 2009 I go here often, their scotch selection kicks their beer selections ass, and the beer selection is pretty good. They keep it mainly themed around the british isles but the bottle selection stems into interesting belgian, italian, and american micros. This is a pretty trendy place to go so usually the staff is too busy to help you out, which sort of blows. When it’s slow it’s a very nice bar though with good people. |

October 11, 2008 I haven’t been here since Iowa’s smoke free law went into effect earlier this year, so the numbers could change for the better (especially ’Ambiance’). Biggest selection of British beers you’ll find in Des Moines, on tap and in bottles. The food is good - you have to try the spicy egg rolls! - and the portion size is great for the price.

July 11, 2008 [ Updated November 1, 2008 ] Now, this is a bit of a delayed rating. I’ve recently read my notes from my travels. I had completely forgot about this place but I feel deserves a mention. I would love to hear if this place is still serving good beer and doing well. This pub served good English style beer along with bottles and seemed to have a great beer selection. I have great memories of the pub and fish and the chips were pretty good for the middle of America. |
