| Caytinator (25), Kaiserslautern, Germany | | March 5, 2012 I think I like this Flying Saucer because it’s in a re-purposed building and it doesn’t FEEL like a franchise Flying Saucer. They have live music (huge plus) and I like all the different rooms you can choose from to chill out and plant some roots. The service is typical, and the selection would be better if they weren’t always out of 1/2 the menu. I think of three beers I want before ordering. | Cinnabar (1), Texas does not count - explanation | | March 3, 2012 I’ve only been to the Flying Saucer a couple of times, but I’m definitely going back again! Their beer selection is out of this world! Last time my hubby and I went we each tried a beer flight, and we shared a sausage and cheese plate which went very well with the beer. | | Braudog (611), Hampton, Virginia | | October 14, 2011 October 2011. What is this building? An old firehouse? It’s a neat setting, much more quaint and historic than any other Saucer I’ve been to. The beer (and food) list on the other hand was pretty standard Saucer -- a couple solid regionals, iron clad imports and a handful of other US micros. Enjoyable setting in downtown. | | blutt59 (121), Dallas, Texas | | September 24, 2011 Similar to the others but nicer smaller more intimate, good food and service when we went | | boomerbrew (14), Texas | | August 7, 2011 Spent the afternoon at the FS with friends after a Rahr Brewery Tour. Greate atmosphere/ambiance and selection. We set out on the outside balcany (it was in Feb/March). They also provide a couple of mixed beers on 100 plus beer choice selection. Split a pizza so food/beer value was reasonable. Most people are there for the beer anyway but the pizza was decent. They have specials on the beer selection but I tried about 4 different beers. Overall a great time and place.
P.S.....The Bluebonnet Homebrew Competition was going on and a group was having a pub craw. As a fellow homebrewer, I spoke to a couple of those guys as well. Fun bunch of people! | | BMWiens (11), Texas | | July 10, 2011 Great selection of bottles and quite a few on tap, this bar in downtown Fort Worth is a rare place to get great beer in North Texas. A few small televisions show sports, but it doesn’t feel like a sports bar. If you’re in the Fort Worth area, check it out. | | skoisirius (23), Earth, Washington | | June 26, 2011 It’s been a few years, but I do remember this spot. While I was driving across the country for work all the time, this was a heaven to stop into whenever I was on the Interstate that runs from Texas to Cali (the 10??). Large selection, not necessarily the most rare, but always a good brew in bottle or tap, which means, always worth stopping by if you’re in the hood! | | FloridaNative (19), Florida | | May 16, 2011 Although it has been a few short years since I have been, I remember this place distinctly. Microbrews lining the walls, and a friendly staff, all surrounded by platters adorning the walls with designs ranging from Elvis to depression era china. I was traveling cross country and had to visit someone in town, and my friends literally had to peel me off the bar stool to get me out of there. Staff was super friendly and generous with the samples and gave me a healthy education on the regional micro-brews, which were available in abundance. Small crowd of locals were very kind and conversational. I would stop in again the next time I would be in town. | | jrallen34 (207), Chicago, Illinois | | March 31, 2011 I was in Fort Worth and I had give this place a try. There are tons of taps, at least 30 with a huge draft selection. I got to have Live Oak Hefeweizen here, which was aweseom.
The have a great beer menu, in that sense that not only do they have tons of beers, but the menu is nicely done. It is separated out by style, and lists tons of other useful information. Additionally, they have great beer flights by country or state, and lots of fusion beers.
The selection is pretty decent, lots of main staples and Texas beers but not tons of world classe beers. Very weak on RIS.
Good place to drink, lots of comfortable furniture, and tons of patio space,
To top it off, tons of hot ass chick servers. | | HalfCockedJack (11), | | February 27, 2011 They were charging a cover to get in, just to get to order and drink a beer. I had to check the street signs to make sure that I had not made a wrong turn and had ended up in Dallas by mistake! I am a Westerner and hate pretension; that is best saved for the East Coast, thank you.
I have a tip for you, Flying Saucer: You are not a club, you are a pub. Get rid of the attitude and straighten your focus which, by the way, should be the beer and *not* on being a night club. Just because the Flying Saucer is a chain restaurant does not mean that you have to act corporate. I will be going to the Ginger Man instead when I am in Ft. Worth. They have a great selection, and do not act pretentious. And I will take what I saved on your cover charge and put it in the Ginger Man’s tip jar. |
