timp718 (7), Florida does not count - explanation | | November 22, 2011 For a "chain" experience you will enjoy yourself. Selection is massive but surprisingly not impressive. I think the "any keg, so long as it costs less than $xxx.xx" mentality. I truly like the chain, but alas it is still a chain. Have been to 3 Yardhouses and this one for it’s location is a great value, Waikiki is $$$. | | Dogbrick (423), Columbus, Ohio | | July 7, 2011 (Visited 12/2010): We visited the Yard House a couple times during our time in Honolulu before and after a cruise around the islands. It is located on the Waikiki Beach Walk on Lewers. Not sure about parking as we walked from our hotel but being a touristy area it should be easy to get there.
The entrance is open, and the interior is rather dark with a circular bar toward the right and funky artwork on the walls. Lots of views outside around the seating area.
Yard House has 50+ beers on tap, with a good amount hailing from Hawaii such as Kona, Maui, Mehana and Hawai’i Nui. Other craft brewers like Deschutes, Rogue and Sierra Nevada are available. As for imports they carry brews from Chimay, Affligem, Murphy’s and the like. Only a couple of bottles and they were of the NA variety. Beer floats are also on the menu which is cool.
Service was consistently good on our visits. Our servers were familiar enough with the local beers and seasonal stuff.
Food at Yard House is consistently above average. My macaroni and cheese dinner was very tasty.
Overall this is a good beer spot to visit amid all the shopping and tourist spots in the area. | | Sledutah (151), Utah | | April 30, 2011 Saw the huge line of taps from the front and decided this is where we were eating dinner. Pretty disappointed in the whole experience. They have a huge list of beers on tap, but while looking through the list nothing stood out that I hadn’t had already. I ended up drinking a few Hawaii beers. The food was decent. The service very slow. My wife didn’t get her food until we asked about it, my daughter was missing half of her dinner. They did make it up to us, but way to late at that point. Expensive for what we had, even after they comped us for the late dinners. | | KyotoLefty (286), Kyoto, Japan | | April 5, 2011 Atmosphere was sports bar without sucking too much. Constant danger sports videos were a bit annoying. Service typical American chain restaurant: overly nice, looking for tips. Over 100 taps, though about half were industrial or lame. There were many nice ones, including Hawaiian beers. Could be a bit more adventurous. Burgers were lovely. Prices seemed fair for Waikiki. The only place to go for a good beer selection, so you’ll go more than once. But not really craft-focused. | | savnac (155), Anchorage, Alaska | | April 5, 2011 Went here a couple of times on our trip. Very nice ambiance, big open sports bar with lots of tv’s and a giant center bar. Service was horrible the first time we went and really good the second time, so a bit inconsistent. Both times the servers had no idea of what beers were out of stock. Selection of beer looked great but they were out of just about anything that I wanted to try, on my first try at getting a beer it took the server 5 tries to get me something, she would take my order then come back and say we are out of that... over and over. Food was really good and the happy hour appetizers are what kept us coming back, really good deal. Overall a good place to eat and drink downtown, I just wish they could keep their beers in stock and fire some servers. | Daytonbeer (5), Ohio does not count - explanation | | December 21, 2010 Yard House is an excellent bar with more taps than I can count...(I was told there are 130). Large block O bar area with plenty of tables for dinner. Very busy, but not too crowded. Beer selection is very good, but lacked some great American beers...Alesmith, Russian River, Stone, Three Floyds, Hoppin Frog, etc... Their best beers are Rogue and Chimay. | | Braudog (611), Hampton, Virginia | | November 5, 2010 November 2010. Not any different than any of the other YHs I’ve visited -- aiming for yuppy cool. While amy YH beer list is certainly extensive, there really isn’t that much exceptionally rare to be found. It is a good place to find local beers that a visitor might find interesting -- in this case, full lineups from Maui and Mehana, beers that aren’t even easy to find in Hawaii. I was less than impressed with my luke-warm pizza, and the service was downright snobby. | | Immy (107), Virginia Beach, Virginia | | June 19, 2009 This place has a very Gordon Biersch decor and feel. The menu is OK, and they do half price appetizers 2:30-5. Pizza was pretty good, chicken nachos kinda sucked. Excellent tap selection, with good local representation. Went here several times, and service ranged from crap to excellent. A must if in Waikiki. | | Marinesuds (13), Hawaii | | February 22, 2009 Good selection, especially for Hawaii. Wait staff was friendly and helpful, and knowledgeable about the beers they were serving. Menu of beers doesn’t seem to change. Would like to see some variety. | | jeremytoni (110), Swedesboro, New Jersey | | October 30, 2008 With over 130 taps you are bound to find something new. Local hawaiian beers that are hard to find elsewhere, and pretty good service. |
