ALandry (7), , Italy does not count - explanation | | April 20, 2012 Awesome local bar and restaurant with a great selection of beers both on tap and bottled. Steve has done a great job of running this place and the intended restaurant expansion should be good addition. Thanks for the beer tasting!!! | rdixon77 (7), Georgia does not count - explanation | | April 8, 2012 Great place. Draft selection was so astounding, didn’t even have tine to think about bottles. Amazing and interesting beers. Server was great despite it being very packed. Love to be back here whenever I am in Jax. | | yayforbeer (18), Orange Park, Florida | | February 28, 2012 Best beer bar in Jax. Awesome tap and bottle lineup. Beers you won’t find anywhere else in the city. Food is excellent for a beer bar, best fish and chips I’ve had this side of the Atlantic Ocean. I went early on a Tuesday afternoon so the crowd wasn’t there yet and the service was decent. Later in the evening and especially on the weekends its a mob scene and the service gets spotty, and parking is difficult. | digita7693 (6), , Germany does not count - explanation | | February 19, 2012 A: great beer bar, with opportunity to chat or watch some sports.Make sure you take a look at the ceiling which is covered in taps.
Love the menu on the wall, tap list and bottles.
It is easy to watch some sports or chill and talk with friends.
Q: 85 quality taps. Steve, the owner, has gone out of the way to make this place top notch. The servers, the quality beer and the food are all excellent.
S: very knowledgeable and friendly. I visited 4 times on my recent stay in Jax and every server was great and knew their beer. It can slow down if they get super busy, but such is the case anywhere.
S: top notch, again Steve has gone out of his way to have some special things in the bar and some kegs year round that you will not find anywhere else
F: Who would have thought that a "beer bar" would have such amazing food! They bake their own bread daily, a must try, along with the sweet potato fries!
another great thing is the fact that the serve food until 3am! So try a waffle at 2:30:) or for a proper breakfast when they open back up at 6or 7am, I forget when.
This is a place not to miss in Jax, if you are a local and havent been there yet, shame on you. If you are passing through/visiting it is a place you must visit.
| Kaylarb1986 (1), Jacksonville, Florida does not count - explanation | | February 12, 2012 My husband and I went on a Sunday night (normally when restaurants are not that busy). It was almost 15 minutes before a server greeted us to take our drink order. Then we ended up waiting about 10 more minutes before we even got those drinks. Our server sat them down and walked away without even offering to take our food order. We assumed he would be back shortly but it ended up taking him another 10-20 minutes to even take our food order. We of course waited forever for this as well and when the food finally came out, my food was all wrong. I ordered a three-meat sandwich and ended up getting an all veggies sandwich. I order onion strings but got fries and our waiter came back half way through the meal to see how things were. When I informed him that my order was wrong he questioned it and then brought me out a different sandwich by the time my husband and completely finished his entire meal. I never even saw the onion strings. I asked to speak to a manager but was informed that the waiters were their own managers so I asked that my meal be deducted from the bill. My waiter explained that this could not be done and that the food cost still needed to be paid for (despite that fact that I had hardly eaten anything). Then he told me that had he known that I wanted onion strings instead of fries (which he did because that is what I told him when I ordered my meal) that he would have corrected that as well. After arguing with us the waiter grabbed the check and stormed off. Once we finally got the order corrected and my meal deducted from the check, we get it back to see a 20% gratuity added! Once again I went up to a group of waiters and complained about the service and our situation and they argued but finally deducted the gratuity from the bill. Needless to say, we didn’t tip well and when we left our waiter and two other employees chased after us when we left. Insanely horrible service. We will never go back! | | markwise (124), North of Tampa, Florida | | January 3, 2012 Stopped by on a Thursday for breakfast. Nothing like a great beer bar that serves breakfast. Walked into an almost empty house with taps all over the place. Common and not-so-common beers abounded. Had a Bell’s Java Stout with my veggie egg wrap and some nice, crispy home fries. Service was spot-on and beer was first-rate. I don’t know what it’s like when it’s crowded, but I would be there every day if I was a local. | | Msumax1985 (13), Florida | | November 27, 2011 Excellent selection, all served in proper glassware. | DrWhoBeer (1), , does not count - explanation | | September 11, 2011 What a great neighborhood bar! I come here each time I’m in Jacksonville. The draft selection is immense (84) and always includes a couple of Belgians that I have never seen anywhere else. Very knowledgeable and friendly staff and a good selection of food. I have never had a dish that I didn’t enjoy. A major expansion is planned for 2012. Until then, they warn in a menu insert that you may experience delays in getting your food because of kitchen limitations. I haven’t had any delays yet. Even if I did, it would just be an excuse to drink a few more rounds of great beer! | Jlo7399 (2), Florida does not count - explanation | | September 8, 2011 Huge selection of beers and food. I have never had a bad meal there, but I have waited a while for some. Servers are great and very knowledgeable about their products. The owner is amazing and the place is a cool joint. One of my favorite hang out spots in Jax. | | beernovice39 (146), South Carolina | | August 11, 2011 [ Updated August 30, 2011 ] Place rating #100. Without any doubt this is the new Champ of beer bars. Fantastic food. 85 taps with a new Belgian beer pub expansion coming around new years with an additional 135 taps. The greatest bartender (Andrew) of all time. 600+ vintage bottle catalogue. Open 20 hours a day....this leads to Good Gourd at breakfast. Not one thing I can complain about! |
