| UDBeernut (53), Saugerties, New York | | March 1, 2012 Went to this place on a saturday night, arrived around 6:30. We were informed by the host that we had an hour wait for a table. While waiting we made it to the bar for some beers. Had a nice selection on tap. Did not look at how many bottles, the tap selection was good. My wife had a few rodenbachs while I had a few troegs pales. We finallly got seated around 7:45. We promptly ordered our sandwiches and another round of brews. The beer was delivered quickly, the food was another story. We easily sat for another hour before our food arrived. The food was tasty and filling, but not worth spending over 2 hours waiting for. Granted it was a sat night, but I have never waited this long anywhere else during peek times. If you go, hit it when it is not prime time.
| | Dogbrick (423), Columbus, Ohio | | November 14, 2011 (Visited 03/2011): This location of Melt is in Lakewood on Detroit Ave north of I-90. Street parking is available in the surrounding area.
The interior is comfy, made more so by the seemingly endless crowds trying to get in. The bar is on the right side after weaving through tightly packed tables. We were quoted a 2+ hour wait but thanks to my friend being on crutches we were able to get a couple sympathy seats at the bar pretty quickly. Cool blue tin ceiling with hanging star-shaped lights. Precarious journey downstairs to the restrooms.
The beer selection is solid, with around 20 taps with beers from Rooster Fish, DFH, Bells, Southern Tier and Stone. The bottled selection exceeds 100 with many NE Ohio brewers represented such as Hoppin’ Frog, GLBC, Thirsty Dog etc. Other craft brewers such as Rogue, Stone, and the like, plus a good amount of imports.
Service was about as good as could be expected given how busy it was. With all the production around the challenge the bartender did a good job with refills and beer knowledge.
Food is the main draw at Melt, and they deliver in spades. My friend took the Melt Challenge and didn’t make it 1/3 of the way through, but he got 3 delicious meals out of the deal. My sandwich was excellent as well.
Overall this place is pretty amazing although I would recommend going at an off time. | | bellatts (10), Canfield, Ohio | | November 9, 2011 What else can you say about a place that has gourmet grilled cheese andddd good craft beer | | jmikolich (45), Brunswick, Ohio | | October 3, 2011 Visited on a Saturday night with a party of 6, was told 2.5 hours so we wandered around the area for a bit came back after 1.25 hours and was told we’d already been called?!? Waiting another hour in the lobby until seated, tap list is modest but full of variety. Bottle list is great for everyone. Food is what made melt famous and still doesn’t disappoint. Price was average for drinks and food and parking on Detroit was free at the time so that was nice | | RayOhm (32), Fergus, Ontario | | August 27, 2011 this place was awesome. huge selection of craft beer. the food was amazing. service was great. if your going here expect to wait to be seated, but its well worth the wait | | stranglehold (10), Ohio | | August 5, 2011 Great! | | DiarmaidBHK (307), Pennsylvania | | August 3, 2011 Has a bit of a dive bar aesthetic to it crossed with all sorts of randomness. The big attraction, as the name implies, is big honkin grilled cheese sandwiches. I had mine with chorizo and potato. Very nice. Now the kitchens fairly small so even at lunch you will wait for your food. Luckilly they have a really solid beer list with 20 on draft and a couple hundred in bottle and it’s almost all craft. Everything is very reasonably priced as well. I had a full lunch and two pints of craft brew for under $20. | | zach8270 (54), Henrietta, New York | | June 26, 2011 After visiting this place a few times, finally got to sit down to try it. Seems a bit smaller than the one in Cleveland Heights, but the atmosphere is just as cool. Good tap and bottle selection. There were several varieties of New Holland Mad Hatter, including the Black and the Rye. Good sandwiches and just a good atmosphere. Also walking distance from Rozi’s, so put your name down and go check out their selection. | gruppen (6), does not count - explanation | | June 17, 2011 Don’t come here and ruin the place. If you are a snob then go to the East side Melt. You are going to wait to be seated and you are going to wait for your food. Nice and knowledgable servers. | | valgalder (14), Buffalo, New York | | April 22, 2011 Love this place! gets way too crowded, but I can’t fault them for that! It’s damn good! Beer selection is good, but not outstanding, but there is always something good on tap, so that’s ok because the food is incredible. Prices are also very fair considering the amount you get and the high quality. Wish I could frequent this place more. |
