| beernovice39 (146), South Carolina | | April 4, 2012 Small place, very small when crowed. Good vibe, great service. Decent beer and fantastic nachos. | | maxwelldeux (19), Raleigh, North Carolina | | March 27, 2012 I came here on a Tuesday, when brews are $2.75 - great deal. The food is great, but it gets really crowded, as it’s a small venue. Service was quite good and accommodating. I’m a huge fan of this one. | NeoHippie2 (8), Louisville, Kentucky does not count - explanation | | October 17, 2011 Great place for food and beer. They always have a great selection of beers and the food here is awesome. Very reasonable prices as well. Large variety of beers to choose from and very interesting seasonal offerings. I love stopping in here for dinner and a brew. | | shrubber85 (132), Greenville, Indiana | | August 31, 2011 Not huge but comfortable - seating and parking limited though. Nice selection of eclectic foods and nicely made beers. Service was great. Very pleased - will be back. | BeerBuzzed (7), Louisville, Kentucky does not count - explanation | | January 3, 2011 great place to sit outside during good weather if you can snag a seat. i have always found the service to be friendly and the food above average to really good. Unfortunately the beer is just "OK" - not my favorite - I think their execution is lacking/ inconsistent - but kudos for brewing their own beer - sometimes they have "guest beers" - I wish they had more - I cant find one "go-to" beer of theirs that I really like when I go there. but to be fair some folks really like their beer and to each their own. If we all liked the same beer there wouldn’t be much variety. | FrankLe (7), New York does not count - explanation | | November 25, 2010 Stopped in on a sunday afternoon. Solid brewpub. All the beer was decent and the food was good. Waitstaff was friendly. Would go again. | | mikehanneman (13), Iowa | | August 5, 2010 Great micro brewed IPA here. Lots of flavor. Small but worth the effort. | | thorine (11), Indiana | | August 3, 2010 I was quite looking forward to my first trip to Cumberland Brews. I’d heard of the place for a long time, but had never been. I was, in particular, looking to try their Nitro Porter (and I’d also heard very complimentary things regarding their food). Overall, I was rather disappointed. The food was a type of spring roll (stuffed with veal or lamb... it’s been a few months) served with a cucumber sauce. The sauce was excellent,... the rolls were better than average. Nonetheless, I continue to hear good things about the food, so I will give the benefit of the doubt with my 7/10 rating. The service was prompt, knowledgeable, and kind. It was a little cramped, but that didn’t bother me too much. However, the beer... that really let me down. The Nitro Porter certainly wasn’t bad, but in the end it was not what I’d anticipated. Left me wanting more. I tried the Brussels Bruge, and that was just bad. The body behind the beer seemed very solid, but there was this pervasive umami taste in the beer, reminiscent of dirt. I like a little mustiness in some beers, but this was just off. It seemed like a nice place, and I hope to give them another shot, but as it stands, I have to stick with this rather low score. | | cranked (19), Kentucky | | July 23, 2010 Located right on Bardstown Road in the Highlands, getting a table on the sidewalk would be key to enjoying the place. Beyond that it’s a bit stuffy. Upstairs is great but rarely open and when open is generally full, maybe it’s because downstairs is so cramped.
Their beer used to be really good before their old brewer left. Now the beer is reminiscent of water and line infection.
Food and service are good, about run of the mill for most brewpubs. Overall, if it were less cramp and the beer was a lot better, I’d come back more often. But, as it sits, I make my trips sparingly. | Squall611 (2), Kentucky does not count - explanation | | July 18, 2010 Very small, cramped place. Great Beer and good food though. Service is great and friendly. |
