| joet (68), Fulton, California | | May 25, 2012 Vegetarian and vegan options solid brews clean prompt friendly and worth the stop. | | miqal (10), , | | April 19, 2012 Just up the road from the NEwport Storm Brewery is Coddington Brewing Company, a brew pub and restaurant. Service on the day I was there was okay. Had to flag down the waitress a few times. Seemed to forget about us. Food is decent and prices not bad for the newport area. | | LilBeerDoctor (185), East Setauket, New York | | January 19, 2012 A nice brewpub just outside of Newport, RI. It is split into a bar side and restaurant side, definitely family friendly. Lots of pictures of the old town on the walls. It was fairly quiet when I was there on a Monday afternoon. They had around 8 taps on when I was there. Mostly average beers, and some of the styles weren’t my favorite but there are enough that you can find something. The food is on the pricier side, but good (I had a tasty lobster bisque). It was a great place to get my Rhode Island tick :-) | | beerbill (80), Laurel, New York | | October 17, 2011 My family has eaten here on a number of occasions and I am surprised that I have not reviewed this place before now. They usually have six beers on tap, three regular beers and three seasonal brews. The place itself is nicely decorated and there are several large televisions in the bar area. The service is usually excellent and the food is very good as well. If you are in the Newport area looking for local craft beer, your two options are this place and Coastal Extreme Brewing which is just down the road. Family-friendly and worth the visit. | | bigrond (39), factoryville, Pennsylvania | | June 5, 2011 Fels like a chain place, think Rock Bottom or John harvards. Beers are average at best. the food was good but nothing over the top. If you in the neighborhood it’s might be worth a stop but I would not go out of my way at all. (155e rating d’établissement) | | chriso (258), London, England | | July 15, 2010 Visited in April 2010. Pretty much everything MartinT said. Except there was no English Mild when I was there. Wouldn’t really come back for anything that was available when I was there. Not to say there is anything particularly wrong with the beers, they are just not very memorable. Run-of-the-mill sums it up perfectly. That might sound rather damning but it is not intended to be. It’s an unpretentious workhorse (which is no bad thing in the Newport area) and I doubt it is intended to be anything different. It does what it does just fine. I’d probably go back if passing as there would likely be some new beers to try but I wouldn’t make a detour for a second visit. | | italianjohn (127), Penndel, Pennsylvania | | June 19, 2010 Not in a desirable area considering how beautiful and picturesque newport is but the brewpub had a nice pleasant atmosphere with plenty of seating and a decent sized bar .. very clean inside.. the food was great had lobster bisque and a lobster roll ..menu had usual pub fare and seafood .... the beers were average and easy drinking with a low abv .... it was expensive, but then again pretty much everything around newport is .... the waitstaff was friendly and I really like the logo of the brewery .... The food being good really helped me enjoy this place more | | auerbrau (232), Peace Dale, Rhode Island | | August 31, 2009 [ Updated September 1, 2011 ] Stopped in for some lunch and a sample of there beers. I got bored before I sat down. This a very ho-hum brewpub. Two different fruit-flavored wheat beers is usually a bad sign. The beers were okay, drinkable, but nothing interesting. I did have a very nice Lobster roll, but the fries that came with weren’t worth it. The waitstaff was pleasant and friendly. Again, considering the general lack of a craft beer scene in the region, this is pretty much your only choice. Again, to me, surprisingly expensive. | | MartinT (469), Montreal, Quebec | | July 20, 2009 This run-of-the-mill brewpub offers lots of sessionable beers (the strongest was 5% abv!) that are all cleanly made and drinkable. The decor isn’t much to look at and the food is also nothing memorable (the lobster club was okay), so I wouldn’t recommend a beer lover to make a detour to come here, but then again nothing we had there was flawed. If I were to come back through these parts, I’d come in for a pint of English Mild. |
