Stopped here twice. Before Darkness day they had an imperial stout fest that was understandably a zoo. On the plus side they had maybe 20+ imperial stouts on tap, where else do you get that? Their normal tap selection ranges from local brews to a few rarer taps. The atmosphere was ok, a somewhat standard college bar with some great craft beer taps. The food was pretty standard bar fair, but worth it, again for the taps. I stopped by later on a Monday night, and understandably the place dead for the dinner hour. Even if I was one out of four customers in the place the bartender was more interested in talking to the waitress than providing service. I’d say Stub and Herb’s would be a good place to find decent taps in campus town, and certainly worth stopping by for any beer related events.

This is a fun place with a great, rotating selection of hard to find beers. A huge upgrade over the place I used to avoid when I was in grad school.

When I did my postdoc (1993-4), this was the place we went for frieday beer. Not a great place where the food was outstanding, just a nice place near the lab with a small selection of beers that one needed after a week at the lab.

Visited on a slow Sunday night, I think I was one 3 people in the place. The bartender was very friendly and knew quite a bit about local brews. I got a flight of some local stuff - they had quite a bit of MN crafts on tap. I had a burger which was pretty good. Worth a trip.

This place has a great selection of taps. Mostly Midwest stuff, but they do often have Abyss and other well know semi-rare beers. They always have a great selection, and often cellar kegs. I have been there a few times and have Abyss 2010, and KBS 2010 on tap. Price reflects the quality they carry. $7 for a 7oz pour I can understand on a aged quality beer. Their food is great, burgers on a pretzel bun. Top notch food. Service is usually slow so order your next beer in advance. But that is to be expected with a bar so close to the U of M campus. Always a worthy stop when in MN.

A nice selection of beer can be found her with a lot of fun stuff on tap. But it’s not as great as it could be.

Great local hangout pretty much right on the U of M campus. They have some nice special release days, but aside from that their tap selection of about 30+ always has something good. The food is very average bar fare, and the burgers are not very good. The prices are also very high, so go during happy hour, which is pretty much all day.

Great place to hang out and have some good beers. Food is decent for a bar.

Stopped by here twice during the Darkness weekend festivities. The first the night was during the Darkness release party and then I decided to come back to give an accurate review because the beer list for the party was different than a normal night. For the party a pretty sick list, the regular list is average. Its got lots of MN beers but nothing special, I was pretty bored. The atmosphere is so-so, a total college bar, nothing spectacular. The crowd is young with beer people mixed in. They do have several promotions mixd in which is cool, but again geared toward the college crowd. The bartenders seem to know a decent amount about beer, the servers know very little, a mixed bag. Neither offered very good suggestions. A decent beer bar that probably gets a little too much pub. If I was in college I’d love this place. Worth stopping by but if I lived here probably would only be a once in the blue moon stop.

Somewhat of a college bar feel, but with a much better tap selection. Sometimes the taps could be better, but I almost certainly will be able to find something to drink. Bartenders and servers are nice, and seem to know a fair amount about beer (I’ve had discussions with servers about different years of Bourbon County Stout and would never had thought they knew anything about beer beforehand). Food is pretty solid, though mainly just your standard bar food. Good burgers. Happy hour seems to be going on all day, and the prices are fairly cheap. Not a place I would go to during any gopher games.
