| jbrana (27), NASHVILLE, Tennessee | | February 29, 2012 Has a great selection of beers, but taps are often out and seasonals are sometimes over-priced. The food is actually quite good, and the atmosphere is pretty good (as long as you’re not there on trivia night or something). Bartenders are typically very knowledgeable, but the "beerstresses" (waitresses) typically don’t know anything about beer and have often looked at me confuse when I order something less mainstream or have served me the wrong beer by mistake. | | IndyBeerSnob (13), Nashville, Tennessee | | January 30, 2012 The only place in Nashville where the beer is the main focus. Not food, not smoking, and not frat life. Just incredible beer on tap and bottled with pool tables, dart boards, and amazing couches. Best place on Earth. I’m a Beer Knurd | | LilBeerDoctor (185), East Setauket, New York | | December 10, 2011 Great bar in Nashville! A long bar, plenty of tables, and also couches/cozy chairs in the front. Was reasonably packed on a Wednesday night, and even had some traffic on a Thursday early afternoon. They have a huge number of tap offerings - estimated 80 taps. There is a list of permanent offerings plus a chalkboard lists new arrivals. They also have an extensive bottle list. A decent amount of local offerings (Terrapin, Sweetwater, Calfkiller, Yazoo, etc) plus they always have seasonal taps from Brooklyn, Boston Beer Co., Sprecher, New Belgium, Starr Hill, Chattanooga, and the above. They have specials from time to time and music events (although I missed them when I was there). Friendly atmosphere, good waitstaff. I didn’t order any food so can’t comment on that. They will give you a $5 voucher if you park in the general parking lot (it is really the only nearby option). Overall, a great stop, I highly recommend it. | alex4r (7), , does not count - explanation | | November 16, 2011 Great place. The service was good and the beer selection was one of the best in the city. | darthBeer (4), Nashville, Tennessee does not count - explanation | | October 26, 2011 The Saucer has the widest beer selection available in Nashville, although perhaps not always the highest quality. Food is fair to good, service is impeccable when they are appropriately staffed. Great beer special on most pints every Monday, but later evening crowds start to degrade service and they often run out of popular beers. The trick with finding beer in this area is that Tennessee is the home/ distribution range of many excellent small craft brewers, but the state as a whole is sorely lacking in imports from abroad and other regions of the country. I may be mistaken, but I believe that lack is due to some archaic alcohol laws still in place. Summary: The Saucer does a great job working with what they can get. | | Boesky (35), Galesburg, Illinois | | October 17, 2011 [ Updated October 25, 2011 ] Fun place with a cool vibe. Lots of handles, but a bit light on the selection of Belgians. Bartender was great, knowledgeable and accommodating. Had the Asian wings; they were quite good, lightly dusted and fried hot, with a nice peanut sauce. Parking is at a premium, make sure you get your ticket validated. Will definitely return next time through. | | b79turner (24), Alabama | | July 17, 2011 First visit to Flying Saucer in Nashville. Very cool place! Great beer selection and the staff was incredibly helpful. We sampled at least 15 beers on tap at no charge before ordering what we liked. Highly recommed!! | | Dogbrick (423), Columbus, Ohio | | June 1, 2011 (Visited 09/2010): Flying Saucer is located in a pretty building between Broadway and Demonbreun next to the Visual Arts center. We walked from our hotel but it looked like they had a small parking lot and there appeared to be a garage as well.
The inside is essentially one big room with the bar running along the back wall, and long tables taking up most of the remainder of the seating. There is a big chalkboard behind the bar listing what beers are available. As with other locations, there are saucers displayed prominently for club members.
As with other locations, this Flying Saucer has a pretty robust beer menu. There are around 70 taps, and unlike Broadway Brewhouse a good portion of them are microbrews. Brewers like Sweetwater, Terrapin, Highland, Yazoo, Starr Hill and many other area brewers are represented. Various flights are available as well.
Service was good on our visit. The bartender was helpful in choosing beers for our flights and knew his stuff.
We did not try any food on our visit.
Overall this is a good spot to hit that is somewhat removed from the masses of tourists closer to the main drag downtown. | | nearbeer (144), Knoxville, Tennessee | | May 5, 2011 Pretty much you been to one Saucer you been to ’em all. Typical good beer selection, hit-or-miss service, and OK food and prices. This one has just a bit more of a comfy feel than most of the others. | | ttutony (15), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania | | February 20, 2011 Excellent service and a good selection of beers. Food wasn’t too bad either. Did have to pay a cover charge, which I thought was unnecessary given that there wasn’t even live music. Overall a good bar though. |
