| Slipstream (59), | | May 15, 2012 A big, busy, popular pub with an attractive atmosphere. I liked the low-key lighting and the comfortable, older furniture. Despite its location in what appears to be a modern building, the place has a nice, traditional look. There is an outdoor deck as well as a barroom and a dining area. On the night I visited there were a few hard to find brews on tap. The service was friendly, and the turkey burger I had was fine, but the Belgian fries were just American style fries served with a mayonnaise-based condiment. The fruit pickles were a nice touch. The prices were acceptable, and the 3 beer sampler for $6 is a solid deal. I would be happy to come by another time. | beerlover317 (2), Pennsylvania does not count - explanation | | January 11, 2012 Always great beers on tap. Bartenders know their stuff. Huge menu. Specialty keg tappings on Wednesday. A must visit when in the area. | | Steeeve (34), Ambler, Pennsylvania | | May 23, 2011 A little hard to find. Nice long bar with a bunch of booths, outdoor seats, and some tables on the other side of the restaurant. Service was pretty good, though it was not a very busy day. I was actually annoyed at how quickly they brought our food. Our meals came at the same time as the appetizer. The food was very good. I was a little offput by the plain old Ruffles potato chips that came with the sandwich. I didnt really want fries anyway, but usually they at least throw you some house-made chips. Prices were pretty average. 2 beers, 2 sandwiches, and a plate of nachos came to about $42. Would definitely go back if I was in the area, but it’s not somewhere I would drive the 30 minutes specifically to go there. | | DiarmaidBHK (307), Pennsylvania | | March 10, 2011 [ Updated May 1, 2012 ] I’m surprised the score is so low because I really liked this place. The only reason the service score is low is that this place is so popular that server was overwhelmed. My hamburger was amazing. They have over 20 craft beers on tap and over 100 bottles including a large number of large bottles. I will definitely come back if I’m in the area. 4/30/12 I am back. The hamburgers are still amazing. The beer selection is awesome and they have a lot of stuff, like lost abbey, Russian river, and Hitachino Nest, that you don’t see everyday here. I actually got into the bar and the ambience is amazing. Lots of stone and exposed brand which connects to a patio that feels like an English garden. This place is even more awesome now that I’ve engaged in a little Beerism. I’d love it if this were my local. I’m upping my rating. | | MikeMoriendi (50), Boynton Beach, | | June 18, 2010 This is actually the first ever beer bar I went to many years ago thanks to my cousin in PA. I went back while on vacation last week for the first time. The place itself is pretty cool looking. I like the layout but it seems to be a pretty popular spot and pretty crowded. Service wasn’t bad but they were busy. I spoke to an employee that was not working at the moment and he was really knowledgeable about the brews. The selection was awesome for Philly Beer Week. I had Dark Horse 3 and Lost Abbey Brandy Aged Angel’s Share from tap. I had the meatloaf sandwich and it was ok, a little dry and could have used fries instead of chips. The pricing is what you expect but really good on some. Overall I like the place a lot and it’s always good to see great beer bars in the suburbs. | | italianjohn (127), Penndel, Pennsylvania | | April 20, 2010 [ Updated June 10, 2011 ] Have sat both upstairs and down here for dinner. They have booth’s and tables upstairs, its quieter up there and you still get a chalkboard of the beers on tap. The food was decent and the beer lists and bottle selection were outstanding. It’s always good when a place constantly updates you on what they have. The bar downstairs is big and was packed with people ... smoking is permitted on the patio outside .... I definitely enjoyed myself here and would come back again. | | dolemike1 (11), Jeannette, Pennsylvania | | April 12, 2010 Used to frequent this place weekly when i lived in the area, but haven’t been there in awhile. Decent food, pretty good beer selection with some quality brews. | | jmm635 (66), Havertown, Pennsylvania | | January 5, 2010 Easy, relaxed atmosphere inside. I visited on a Friday afternoon around the holidays and there were quite a few other patrons. Draft and bottle selection is top-notch. Nice selection of Christmas beers available on my visit. Only had a few appetizers, but they were quite tasty. Another bar that, unfortunately, is too far away for me to be a regular. | | DeputyAndy (15), Ambler, Pennsylvania | | November 29, 2009 [ Updated September 19, 2010 ] Been here a few times. Nice selection, changes frequently. Draft list is usually nothing to get excited about but the bottle list has some real treasures. This is also a family restaurant so it can get crowded. Also gets insanely packed on weekends after ten. Staff is knowledgeable and helpful. | | jbender (19), Hatboro, Pennsylvania | | November 13, 2009 Had to try this place out. Pretty nice place...food was really good. Really good selection of beer, both on draft and bottled. Great music was playing the whole time and the service was really good as well. Will definitly be back at some point. |
