| KAF (100), Coralville, Iowa | | January 27, 2012 [ Updated May 25, 2012 ] Great food and a good selection of beer for the area. Only 12 taps with high bottle prices would be the main drawback. This place is always packed no matter what night of the week and it is very loud with televisions on the bar side and loud talking on both sides of the restaurant. That said, the food is wonderful and the wait staff is generally knowledgeable and friendly although the manager and owner seem to know less about beer than the staff. The bottle selection is very good and what is on tap is a good selection of what is available in Iowa. If you are in the area and want some great food and good this is a good place to stop. | | heemer77 (205), Urbandale, Iowa | | November 23, 2011 Visited here recently and I was very impressed. The line up was fairly small but all quality. Various Bell’s, Toppling Goliath and specialty New Belgium brews graced the taps. The bartender was knowledgeable and even let me sample a couple beers. Solid overall line up and a fun place to visit. Great place for a stop to get some great beer. I will definitely return. | hellojake (1), North Liberty, Iowa does not count - explanation | | November 20, 2011 Your diamond in the rough when it comes to great beer on tap in Eastern Iowa.
Also great food! | | GraniteSkunk (10), Moline/Quad Cities, Illinois | | August 9, 2011 Went to Red’s for the first time this past Sunday for their Brunch. I absolutely loved it. I’d heard a lot about it, but it was above and beyond what I expected. Pretty much every item available on the brunch line up was delicious. The beer selection, for this part of the world(Iowa City/QC area) is fantastic. The staff, even the waitresses, were knowledgeable about the beers they offered. They also print up tap lists every time they change a keg or two, which is rare to find in my experience. I’ll definitely be going back whenever I’m in the area. | jwbradley77 (1), Iowa does not count - explanation | | June 29, 2011 Red’s taplist is always evolving, which keeps their customers coming back for more. Their food and great service are top notch. It can be difficult to get a seat during the happy hour or special events, but it is well worth the wait, and while waiting try a pint or two! | | MarcatGSB (14), Eagle Harbor, Michigan | | February 3, 2011 I would have to agree with the last post, I feel like the bottle beer selection is great, and the tap even better. The happy hour is fun, as you can get two Bells Two Hearted’s for 5 bucks. Great deal. Good rotating beers, including Jolly Pumpkin. Yes, Jolly Pumpkin. | | ekoerper (32), Iowa | | January 5, 2011 Great place for food and beer. Best to call ahead and get your name on the waiting list; there’s usually a good crowd. Beer selection is about as good as it gets in Iowa. Lots of rotating tap selections, from Beligan brews to American craft, and usually served in appropriate glassware. Anyone claiming the beer selection is lacking should consider this: Red’s held a beer dinner where they had ALL of the Mikkeller single-hop varietals on TAP. I believe they were the first, and perhaps one of the only, places in the country to do so. Food is always great, service is prompt and friendly. | | Rando7 (18), Iowa | | November 27, 2010 Nice place with kind of an eclectic decor. 18 beers on tap with no BMC in sight. Wide selection of bottles. Menu mainly sandwiches, burgers and flatbreads. Got a draft St Bernardus Abt served in a St Bernardus glass! Pretty impressive. Prices reasonable. I’ll be back. | jjholst (1), North Liberty, Iowa does not count - explanation | | June 7, 2010 love the place. The people, the food, and of course the beer are all great. Patio is awesome. try to make it about once a week and look forward to trying what they have new on tap. | | 1FastSTi (102), Glendale, Wisconsin | | April 3, 2010 Food was really good. The slaw was a red cabbage slaw, not the more likely mayo based. The tap list was phenomenal. I had a glass of St. Bernardus Abt 12 for $6. The were serving half-pints of Bells Hop Slam too. Those who say the beer selection is safe are stupid. Their tap selection is quite good and cheap to boot. There’s something here to be had by everyone. And, apparently they have a 2 for 1 happy hour? I’ll definitely be back. |
