iBodhisattva (8), Providence, Rhode Island does not count - explanation | | March 19, 2012 A bit of a stale corporate feel here. So, if you’re looking for a place to hang this ain’t it-not yet anyway. The beer selection is enjoyable, the food is pretty good. It is worth checking out every now and then. | | Braudog (611), Hampton, Virginia | | August 25, 2011 August 2011. Pleasant surprise of my road trip, maybe because I wasn’t expecting much. But we enjoyed our stop here -- the beer lineup was solid if unremarkable, and the few we sampled could be described similarly. Both dinner entrees we had were good as well, and the service was good too. Maybe nothing over-the-top to rave about here, but a sturdy brewpub nonetheless. | tenchiro (8), Providence, Rhode Island does not count - explanation | | May 23, 2010 The atmosphere seems as corporate as their clientele. They do have a decent selection of beer and food but beware that Reuben just isn’t and I am still biter about that.
Personally I prefer other spots around town but they are worth a look. | | auerbrau (232), Peace Dale, Rhode Island | | February 17, 2010 Sterile, corporate brewpub filled with snotty waitstaff, brainless customers, and bad beer. Prices a touch high. Too many obscenely large televisions. It was cold at the bar. Why even think about going here if you’ve got Trinity right around the corner? There’s nothing to see here, go somewhere else. | Tonkun (9), New York does not count - explanation | | February 7, 2010 Not a lot of selection. Food was ok. Drink prices were ok but food was over priced. The service was ok. No somewhere I would return, though not a bad place. | dr0823 (5), Connecticut does not count - explanation | | September 28, 2009 Went to this place to have a few beers on a Saturday night. The bar was completely packed but there were several tables available in the bar area. The hostess informed us that we couldn’t sit at the tables in the bar area without ordering dinner. Kind of stupid since we wanted to spend money at this establishment but not order food. Is this unreasonable? I really didn’t feel like standing at the bar. I have been here before and appreciated their beers for the most part. I was really looking forward to drinking their cask beer that evening. Don’t waste your time at this joint. Went up the road to Trinity Brewing and had a better experience. And the beer was significantly better. | | halfonit (64), Fall River, Massachusetts | | January 18, 2009 This place has great location being nestled in the center of a little section in Providence, RI that has some higher end restaurants. Service was friendly, but just a little slow (seeing as how we were only 1 of 2 tables that she had). Food was really tasty, but the beer selection was a little bit lacking. But I will go back another time when there is more of a crowd on a weekend night. It’s supposed to be a good time when it’s packed. | | Beese (50), Watford, England | | July 4, 2008 [ Updated September 5, 2008 ] Nice feel to the place, quite done up and modern, but it also has a fairly cosey feel to it. It was particularly quite when we went in, only a few other people in the joint. The bartender was friendly and pretty fast with the service. She gave me a couple of free samples of their beers, which was nice of her. They had six beers on at the time and I enjoyed all of them, I thought the Belgian Tripel was particularly good, the Irish Stout and the Half Day IPA were also very tasty. The food was pretty solid too, can’t remember what the price was like, but it tasted good. Definitely a lot better than Trinity. | | Cryotek (16), Pawtucket, Rhode Island | | December 27, 2007 [ Updated January 5, 2008 ] (From 2 visits in 06 and 07) Clean and upper scale look and feel. An upscale contemporary basement. Nice resturant food. Located along some other famous Providence resturants. But i’m not a fan of the beers. I’ve had the sampler there twice, and i’m not crazy about any of them. Usually never busy, good staff, not a long wait for food. Everyone always compares this place to Trinity, and says Trinity is dirty. But i like Trinity better, but would say there beer is even worse than Union Station. Thats the one thing this city needs is a nice brewpub with really good brew. 1/4/08 - Went back again, hanger steak was great!, beat was very watery. Trinity’s beer was better as i was there the week before. | | Slabjacker (34), | | November 3, 2007 Nice, basement location in the heart of Providence. Interior brickwork and rounded windows give the place some appeal. Staff was friendly and courteous. Selection was limited to about five brews in tap. The Autumn Harvest Ale (pumpkin flavoured) and the Coffee Milk Stout were excellent. Liked it enough to visit twice. Give it a try, it’s worth a look. |
