| LilBeerDoctor (185), East Setauket, New York | | December 17, 2011 Probably the best bar in SLC. They have a number of tap offerings (around 30), of course all of these are 4%, including some macros and then draughts from the local breweries (Squatters, Wasatch, Desert Edge, Hoppers, Red Rock, etc). Then a massive bottle list, which was exciting to me as a traveler as it featured about 20 Epic beers. Also a lot of Mikkeller, Boulevard, Deschutes, Full Sail, Jolly Pumpkin, and more. When you have 300+ bottles in stock, selection is clearly not the problem as there are plenty of local, domestic, and international options. Their food is Cajun-inspired, obviously. I just got a white pizza and it was ok, perhaps not one of their better offerings. Overall, had a great time here and the selection is hard to beat here in Utah. | | Gription79 (11), Bountiful, Utah | | September 18, 2011 Been there many times and the service varies dramatically. Some of the wait staff have great knowledge on beer and are attentive, other not so much. Our favorite beer spot in Utah. | | nbutler11 (226), Phoenix, Arizona | | July 31, 2011 Great spot within walking distance of Brewvies. Best bottle list in town -- especially when it comes to imports. Nice staff and mellow atmosphere. One of the best places in SLC. | | ChanceD (10), Utah | | June 18, 2011 The selection is the best I have seen since I move to Utah the food and wait staff are excellent. Get there early if you are going on a friday or saturday night because most of salt lake will try to cram their way in. | | nearbeer (144), Knoxville, Tennessee | | May 1, 2011 [ Updated May 5, 2011 ] Great place. Beer selection is excellent for the area, and they were not out of any of my selections, as so many other "great" beer menu places have been. Food is a varied selection of fresh and tasty stuff; bartender is very knowledgeable. This is a good restaurant and pub that is trying to be a great beer destination , and is succeeding. | | chimay67 (58), hunt sta, New York | | August 1, 2010 A very lively cajun themed beer bar/resto in downtown SLC very close to Epic Brewing. Staff was okay but maybe spread too thin to be effective. My main complaint here was that while equipped with AC they did not have it on. I don’t know if they were saving $ or trying to be green but it made for a very unpleasant experience.
Don’t be fooled by the extensive beer menu, many of the selections listed were not in stock. Still enough there for most beer geeks to find something to make them happy. Gripe #2, if I order a large format bottle, I don’t want the whole thing poured into one giant glass. I want to share the darn thing with the people I am eating/drinking with.
Food was decent, recommend sticking with the cajun dishes. Burgers were ho-hum. So turn on the AC, hire two or three more servers, and keep the list updated or printed with things that are always kept in stock and print up a new arrivals/specials insert.
| | digitalczech (13), California | | March 25, 2010 Great selection of beer. This place has an awesome menu of local, regional, seasonal and world beer. The food ranges from average to really good depending on what you get. Typical pub fare with some great souther hits. The place has a nice ambiance. Old brick building with a nice bar. I would recommend hitting this place up. It’s nice to see such a great beer menu in Salt Lake. | | Sledutah (151), Utah | | January 26, 2010 They don’t call themselves Beervana for no reason.
Plenty of taps, mostly Utah beers, but also a few others. A great beer menu of many different US and overseas beers. I didn’t eat so I can’t comment on that.
| | seanosean (10), Salt Lake City, Utah | | August 4, 2009 It’s Utah, so the prices are just silly as they have to buy from the State DABC at th same cost as Joe Public (no wholesale alc in Utah!), then they markup even higher ustto survive. Not there fault really, it’s jut Utah.
The beer selection is second to none and the staff seems to know right off which few they are out of stock. Rare beer s galore! The food is good, but pricey for a pub. It was much too hip of a place before Utah got rid of the membership/private club law, now it seems to have mellowed a little, dropping some of the yuppies.
The jazz combos in the corner are always a nice touch and not so loud they overwhelm. IIt’s a great place to go and try a beer you’ve never heard of before, and often the only place (outside searching the liqour stores) you’re going to find the more obscure brews. | | yemenmocha (66), Glendale, Arizona | | May 4, 2009 This social club has the only decent bottled beer selection in town, and the menu is incorrect most of the time. I can’t tell you how many times I picked 2-3 beers in a row and ALL of them were not in stock.
Service is atrocious. More effort is put into hiring young females than competent servers. Atmosphere is contemporary beer bar in nature with decor, but it’s hard to overcome the shortcomings in service and selection. They’re only in business because there is no real competition for the craft beer consumer who wants normal ABV beers in SLC. |
