| thome50 (10), Boringville aka Irvine, California | | February 18, 2012 One of my favorite beer restaurants. Great food, the smoked nuts are rad, and the beer list is out of this world on most any given day. BBQ is pretty nice as well but I definitely come here for the food.A little hard to find parking depending on when you go. | | MattH (38), California | | September 9, 2011 Visited today for the first time for Sour Fest 2011. As a lover of sours I was extremely eager to visit and try as many sours as possible. Place was providing 5.5 oz drafts from 4 to 8 bucks. My girlfriend and I ended up ordering 18 sours over the course of two hours, and I have to say that whenever I wanted a new round the bartender was right there to get us what we needed. Parking close to the place is limited to two hours, so park down the road on 6th or 7th street where on the north side of the road you can park for as long as you want. Brisket Sandwich was also good. On par with any BBQ in Los Angeles. | | orangesol (28), Pennsylvania | | August 31, 2011 Stopped in here after the bruery party for a tasting. What an awesome little place. First off, this place is small, and our group was quite large. We squeezed our way in and grabbed the last few seats at the table. The place was packed with tons of local BA’s there for the tasting and others just looking to eat and drink at this awesome spot. The quality was absolutely top notch. From the amazing food to the excellent beer selection. All the beers were served in the correct glassware and nothing in the place felt cheep. The service could not have been better. Like I said our group was quite large and they didn’t mind at all. Our server Jackie was great and she really knew her stuff. The owner, Gabe, came around quite a bit and was a really cool guy. He even opened a few bottles for all of us to try. The only thing better than the service was the food, which was just awesome. I got the triple meet sampler made up of ribs, smoked chicken, and brisket with sweet potato fries and blue cheese grits. I could only eat half of it because there was just so much food. I ate the rest the next day and it was just as good as the night before. I just wish I could have tried even more because I spied quite a few things on the menu I would have liked to try. Prices were very good. My huge meal was only $20 and the beers were just as reasonable. Now, on to the beer. So many tasty offerings, so little time. I really wanted to try the Midnight Sun panty peeler but it kicked right when we walked in the door, oh well, I had to settle for the Stone double dry hopped sublimely self-righteous...yeah poor me. After that I was going to go with the cask ruination with simcoe but they put a keg of Moylan’s apple brandy barrel aged double kilt lifter on, yeah I know so many words, and I just had to get it. One of the best tap lists I have seen in some time. Overall one of my favorite stops on my trip to cali. I can’t wait to see how the new brewpub location turns out. If it is anything like this place I am sure it will be one of the best. | | Dixonian (79), Dallas, Texas | | August 1, 2011 So glad I made the 1/2 hour trip up north during my recent trip to the OC. The BBQ here is delicious - I had a combo plate of brisket and ribs. The tap list was impressive and I had a Lost Abbey 10 Commandments and Russian River Pliny the Elder (my 2nd Elder EVER). The waitstaff was attentive and courteous. It’s a bit difficult to get to and park at being near the beach but totally worth the effort if you’re in the area. | | pushkinwow (54), Ottawa, Ontario | | July 23, 2011 What a great experience. Went there on a Saturday afternoon (5ish) ordered a drink at the bar and then got a table for 4 within 20 minutes. Service was some of the best I’ve ever had (each table has a server but everyone is more then willing to help out) and the bartender and staff knew a lot about their beers. My food was great but would recommend staying away from the ribs and mac & cheese unless you really like salt. They had Parabola, Abascus, & BA Gonzo on tap and a very good tap list. Can’t say enough about this place - if in LA visit it. | | CantillonKing (11), , California | | June 12, 2011 way too expensive and snotty service | | gd4evr (31), Mar Vista, California | | May 31, 2011 I am basing the 12/15 for selection based on what might well be an off night for Gabe, but regardless of that this place is near perfect.
If I could change anything about this place I would make it closer to my apartment. Other than that no complaints. | | womencantsail (53), Home of Rebecca Black, California | | April 5, 2011 My only knock on this place is that it’s too small. However, the food, beer, and service are all top notch.
Prices for the food are a bit on the high side, but the food is quite good, so I’ll let it slide.
Gabe and Co. are amazingly friendly and accommodating and really take good care of their customers.
It’s too bad that the trip is so long, because I would love to come here more often. | | ADfan (16), Orange County, California | | December 30, 2010 Only live about 8 miles away so i have no excuse not to visit more often. Went on a Thursday afternoon at 1:00 and still had to wait about 20 minutes for a table for two. Pretty good selection of beers on tap but it was a little heavy on Drakes. Big selection of bottled beers, very unique but quite pricey. Food was excellent and especially liked the grits with blue cheese mixed in. Very tasty. | | allfreej (73), Louisville, Kentucky | | December 1, 2010 Not much in the way of ambiance, but the service, selection, and food more than make up for that. Great rotating tap list. Food was really good, though a little pricey. This place is certainly a must stop for anyone in the area. |
