Located in downtown DC near metro center. Ambiance is definitely upscale, very clean, bright lighting. Service was very professional, fast, but mixed up my beer order. Selection is good but not amazing - lots of quality Belgians a few domestic Belgian-style and even a good house beer (Antigoon), but nothing too crazy. Food was good but portions were small. Prices were high for everything. Obviously a place geared toward the DC elite and not beer nerds.

One of my favorite places to visit now when I go to DC. Went there twice on my last trip. The food was top notch. The Beer selection was very good; more quality than quantity so that was ok. The service was fantastic. Try the Mussels (obvious choice for a Belgium place) but they were some of the best I ever had. Can’t wait for the restaurant Mussels to open at the Revel which is much closer to me.

I can be a pretentious prick at times, but not nearly as much as the staff at Beck. In addition to being rude, condescending, and slow, most of the servers don’t know anything about the beers on draft or the bottled offerings. The ambiance is comparable to that of an upscale chain restaurant. No style of character. Ultra-bright lighting. Massive ceilings that reverberate the noisey chatter of the sea of douche clowns, all in suits (on a weekend night) crowded around the bar drinking Duvel and Chimay. I must say the mussels were spot-on. Tender, rich and well-seasoned. If you’re planning on going here as a beer destination, please spare yourself the agony of miserable service and go to a real beer bar with incredible food, like Churchkey, Meridian Pint or Granville Moore’s (if your in the mood for mussels and frites).

Visited on a Wednesday evening at 700pm. Bar was CRAZY slammed with people, glad that we had a reservation. Sat down and took the server 50+ minutes to fetch our first round of beer. Table service was ridiculously awful unless they wanted us there for a 4 hour meal. Ordered the special veal breast and seafood stew. Stew was OK but the veal was awful for the price. Given the acclaim and the hype, we were severely disappointed with our dining experience. Having dined at the best Belgian restaurants, we hoped for a comparable experience in the US. Definitely not the case at Brasserie Beck.

Good selection of beer. Nothing special for everything else, though. Food is no better than ok but overpriced. Service is decent. Stay at the bar section.

Outstanding gastropub! We really enjoyed our time here. Great food, attentive service from a very knowledgeable staff, solid beer selection make this a world class stop!

The food is wonderful, for example the house-made charcuterie plate. While there aren’t a ton of taps, the beer menu was extensive. Some raters below indicate you can only get Belgian beers, but I saw several German bottles available in the menu, including Allgauer Cambonator, one of my favorite doppelbocks. Also apparently lucked out on service, as the beer sommelier (cicerone?) was on hand and provided some very nice recommendations. On the pricey side, but definitely a fun night out.

shawn: how’s the brabo pilsner?
bartender: It’s a pilsner. If you’ve had budweiser you’ve had em all.
shawn: thanks, jackass

food was good. small, belgian focused tap list.

nice place for a belgian food/beer combo.

One of my favorite places to eat and drink in the city. Happy hour is nice too even if it’s short and hard to find a seat. If you’re eating dinner the staff is great, but if you’re at a table at the bar expect a wait (or just go get a beer yourself).

This is the place for upscale Belgian food- not really the place to find a knockout beer selection. The selection is decent- the real draw is that sometimes Brasseria Beck gets one-offs or beers commissioned for the restaurant. However, beers like this (Antigoon for example) can now be found all over the district if you know where to look. So really no reason to come here. Also, the staff know nothing about beer and will make up random shit that makes it seem like they know something so they don’t look stupid. In reality, their advice is now worse than if they had kept their mouth shut or said, "Truthfully, I know nothing about Belgian beer."
