| KPD (64), Michigan | | April 8, 2012 Small neighborhood bar feel, nice tap list, a few I haven’t had before. Some big screen TVs (go tigers!), staff were nice, prices were decent Oud Bruin was pricey and they warned you up front. Nice place if I lived in the area I’d be in a lot. Usual bar food. Don’t take credit cards. | ddfrazee (2), Flat Rock, Michigan does not count - explanation | | January 14, 2012 A bit overpriced it is one of the best selections Downriver. I usually like to kick it with the main bartender and owner. He makes it great. Most of the bartenders there are pretty accommodating, but they could use some more people on staff. And I am not sure what the training is like...but even though I know most of the beers I like someone to know at least if I am looking for a craft light beer where to point me. I still and will always love and support the Oak. A downriver staple. | SurnameLevi (1), Michigan does not count - explanation | | January 10, 2012 Favorite place to go downriver. Selection is fantastic all year. I’ve never had a problem with being taken care of even on extremely busy nights. Sometimes it reminds me a little too much of a sports bar with the atmosphere and food selection, but may be what they’re going for. I’ve seen families with young children there many times. Amazing place. | | libbit (10), Toledo, Ohio | | October 5, 2011 The Oak is one our favorite stops when visiting family while in town. Its a old school corner bar with a amazing beer selection. I think they have 40 taps which varies from a few macros to keep the locals happy a few mild imports like Stella and Bass and the rest is some craft goodies. The last few times we were there they had on Founders Blushing Monk, Dark Horse Double Crooked Tree and Bells Hop Slam. Some of our favorites. Food is good its a bar food menu thats done right. Dont go there and expect Surf and Turf. Service has always been good some of the staff is very knowledgable about beers. A few times we went there it can get pretty busy even during the day time. Also their bottle menu is pretty good too. A few standard crafts as well as a few seaonal rarities. | mjpeter (6), Michigan does not count - explanation | | September 16, 2011 Nice place with a lot of Michigan beers. Food is good and price isn’t bad either. I met the owner he is a real nice down to earth guy and runs a great bar. | | shanko (11), Flint , | | September 7, 2011 Cool neighborhood bar with on Great Beer selection. 40 Taps With everything from high end rarities , belgians etc. Bottle Menu is not to be overlooked. Every other Thursday they run a Cask ale Special. Food Was a Bar menu food but done right. Prices were good too! Had A great time and will return soon Check this place out if your in the area ! | | RayOhm (32), Fergus, Ontario | | August 27, 2011 great tap list including bells two hearted and founders breakfast stout. good service (was there for lunch). huge selection of bottles. had a hamburger, was awesome actually and only $6. the place looked like any other bar though. | | PTYCAKES (10), flint, Michigan | | June 2, 2011 The beer was cold and the service was great | umich03jm (5), Michigan does not count - explanation | | March 8, 2011 My favorite bar. This place is exactly what I look for in a bar. Top notch beer selection that rotates constantly, quick service, greasy food, and an environment that allows for conversation. They also hosting a tasting a month ago that included beers like Founders KBS and Nemisis, Goose Island Dominique, Kuhnhenn Barrel aged Fourth Dementia Olde Ale, Dark Horse Barrel Aged Plead the 5th, and many others. Great time. | DMarra (3), , Ireland does not count - explanation | | August 7, 2010 The Oak, as any regular will tell you, was among the first to really champion Michigan/quality beers. They have a wonderful selection of microbrewed beers from Michigan and around the USa, not to mention a vast assortment of international specialty beers. They always seem to have something very interesting on tap such as: Founder’s B’fast Stout, Bell’s Hopslam, etc. The food at The Oak is second to none when it comes to bar food. If you like food, beer and a casual, neighbourhood atmosphere (especially good since the smoking ban!) you nee dgo no further than The Oak!! |
