A regular Bishops Arms usually featuring quite interesting guest taps from all over the world. Haven’t tried the food but expect it to be the same as all other Bishops venues. With several other craft beer places having opened up in the vicinity it’s more common for me to visit during my pub crawls.

Some of the staff refuse to do smaller pours of high abv beers. Yet, when pointed out that they usually do this for all beers On a regular basis act snarky and are fine with serving a smaller pour to full price. There are far to many good pubs in this town to waste your time and liver on service like that.

Nice pub. Good selection of bottles and OK on tap. A bit too much british beers on tap when I visited. Local and overseas beers available. Food was boring but eatable.

Visited July 19. Dark, cave-like place in a cellar. Same interior as the rest of the chain. A good selection of taps and bottles, rather easy to find new beers. Nice service from the barman and waiter. Standard pub grub as so many other BA. Would probably be nicer to visit on a cold winter evening than in the hight of summer.

Interior like other BA pubs. Selection also like the others, good selection of Swedish micros on tap with a mixed selection of Swedish and foreign bottles.

Updating my old rating from 2006.
Used to go here a lot, but past couple of years haven’t been so often, this updated rating is due to two visits in 2013, as well as based a bit on older memories.
The oldest of the Bishops Arms pubs in Göteborg. Gets pretty crowded sometimes. Small outdoor seating in summer, cave like cellar seating inside. A bit low ceiling sometimes if you’re my height (6’5 - 195 cm). Used to sometimes carry real ale, but not seen that lately. Have quiz night every now and then, usually Tuesdays I think. Ask for the cuvee list, they sometimes have some rarities stored away.
I tend to not eat at the BA chains any longer, find the range of food a bit boring, standard pub grub.
Staff tended to be a bit shaky in the past, but last couple of visits show high quality, friendly, knowledgeable and helpful staff.
Not a cheap place, even for Sweden.

Good location, OK food (not many choices), not so many beers as I expected but you can find something good to drink. It was the Bishops Arms I enjoyed less.

Down in cellar on a dark rainy day in Göthenburg. Atmosphere is pleasant, quite busy for a Tuesday. Beer list is not that long, think they are more into whiskeys. Some good Swedish beers. Burger was good, tasty. Service friendly.

The Bishop’s Arms in Västra Hamngatan is the oldest one of the Bishop’s Arms franchise in Göteborg and I must have been there a dozen times over the last six years. Until now I have thought of it as a great beer bar, but after their recent renovations I sense that beer has been pushed into the background and the focus has turned to whisky and wine. As before, the selection on draft mainly consists of English bitters and international lagers, but now the odd Danish or American craft beer is missing. And the former beer refrigerators have been reduced to small cabinets almost on floor level, as if they’ve been hidden behind the bar. And though there still were many decent bottles in there, it wasn’t like it used to. Add to this a pretty noisy and crowded bar (no changes there, since the renovation) you end up with a place that holds little charm for a beer trotter - there are several better beer bars in Göteborg. Last visit: Feb 3, 2012.

Situated in a cellar style under street level. Decor is typical to the three Bishops in Gothenburg, British classical style with booths giving a nice little privacy in a semi library feel. Nice beer selection on draft and bottles and great to see that each location actually does offer different beers to chose from. Value is typical of bars offering these hard to get beers in Sweden.

Generous hours and comfy arm chairs. Friendly and interested staff on my visit. Smaller selection on draft and botttle than the bishops I usualy visit in stockholm, lots of belgians and a few Närke.
