| Suttree (70), Knoxville, Tennessee | | June 28, 2008 [ Updated July 2, 2008 ] Kind of a mish mash of Pier 1 and Fresh Market, with a lot of furniture and knick knacks and stuff like that with a surprisingly robust beer selection (for Knoxville, anyway). Not worth a special trip, but OK if you are in the area. | | dolemite77 (10), Maryville, Tennessee | | February 23, 2008 I love the place for international groceries, and funky stuff... but the beer selection never gets me excited. Nothing that you can’t get by going to a couple of nice grocery stores. | | tronraner (86), Maryville, Tennessee | | October 16, 2007 This is basically a department store for weird stuff. Their beer selection isn’t outstanding, but they do mix 6 packs and do have at least a respectable selection. What I definitely recommend is a glance at their glassware section. Also, get some hotsauce. Employees are largely teenagers and college students, so don’t expect good service or any sort of beer knowledge. | | nearbeer (81), Knoxville, Tennessee | | August 20, 2007 [ Updated September 2, 2007 ] Kind of reminds me of the old World Bazaar stores, except here they also sell imported specialty groceries and below 6% beer. You can mix sixes from the cooler and about 80 different $1.79 singles on a shelf nearby, although 10-20 were macro imports. Friendly staff. | | BeerHawk (35), Murfreesboro, Tennessee | | March 19, 2007 OK, I went in here with no intent of finding beer (my girlfriend is a self proclaimed interior designer) but was pleasantly surprised with what I found while wondering around in boredom. Decent selection of under 6%er’s. The selection is slightly smaller that Earthfare down the street but here the selection is both in coolers and at room temp plus you can mix your own sixer or buy single 12 oz’ers. They also have some premixed 10 packs. There just happened to be a guy there restocking the shelves and he was overly willing to help out but was not too knowledgeable about beer, just what they had in stock. | | NachlamSie (175), Tennessee | | August 3, 2006 [ Updated November 29, 2007 ] A home furnishing store with a singles beer selection is pretty cool. Go in, buy some glassware, a couch, some snacks, and beer. The selection is acknowledgeable for Knoxville, but is missing some key brews of interest, e.g. the Duck Rabbit lineup, Fort Collins, etc. This is not worth an extra stop, but if you’re shopping in Turkey Creek and have already visited Turkey Creek wine and spirits then swing by for the hell of it. | | maltdog (41), Knoxville, Tennessee | | June 26, 2006 [ Updated October 10, 2008 ] Located in the newest section of the Turkey Creek extended strip mall. Excercise extreme paranoia in the parking lot! Primarily an import home decor store with some dry goods and overpriced kitchen gadgets. Diverse selection of under 6% craft brews and imports, including a few that I haven’t found anywhere else in Knoxville. Seasonals are stocked far in advance of any other local store. No fresh foods, but there are some culinary gems to be found if you search for them. **update 10/10/08** as of today, 135 beers stocked, almost all are available by the bottle, making them perhaps the best local beer store. Recently, they seem to be adding to the beer stock every week. Nearby Turkey Creek Wines & Spirits has a few high gravity selections. Then go to Earthfaire next door for some beers World market doesn’t have, and some gourmet cheeses to go with them. |
