35 reviews for Flying Saucer Draught Emporium (Nashville)
awolcfh5150 (3), Washington does not count - explanation | | November 9, 2009 A good place to go for beers. Being a Nashville native this is one of my favorite spots in town. Always a good selection on tap and in bottles. Some of the beers can bit a bit pricey but overall not too bad when it comes to hard to find beers. The food isn’t great, but it’s not horrible either. If you looking to put something on your stomach while you drink it does the job just fine. Also a big plus for the guys, the waitresses wear plaid school girl dresses with thigh high socks. Always a plus! | | Tmoney99 (254), Cincinnati, Ohio | | June 30, 2009 Easy to find location directly off I40/65. Parking for motorcycle was easy at early afternoon, but would be hard at peak time. Remodeled train luggage station with tables for food in the front and bar and taps across the back. Freindly service with good knowledge and good looking staff in school girl uniforms. Do have over 130 taps and good selection of bottles. I found a new beer. Did not have food, but 70 % of space is for food so I assume it is good. Nice location. | bsuhamsterman (3), Richmond, Indiana does not count - explanation | | March 11, 2009 Good to great beer selection on tap, and plenty of belgian’s in bottles. A bit pricey for some of the finest but a good selection none the less, which is what matters. Nice sized bar though and unique interior. Reminds me of some of the beer halls in Germany. | | nqualls (35), Nashville, Tennessee | | January 3, 2009 This place is great, but it always pisses me off. They are ALWAYS out of the beer on the board (specialty beer). They have 70-90 taps at any given time, and a bunch of bottles. The service is pretty good, but the food sucks. Have 3-4 beers and go somewhere else for food. Their is a good selection of Southeastern brewers available. | | stoad (21), laguna niguel, California | | December 27, 2008 A very cool space once we found a parking spot (they have some prickly neighbors, so be careful). Unexpectedly broad draft selection. The ’tender made a couple of interesting suggestions that we would not have tried otherwise. Not noticeably smoky, although we were there on a Sunday afternoon and the crowd wasn’t very large. Just visiting town, but would recommend this place as a regular stop. | | Butters (150), Virginia | | October 13, 2008 Very cool transformation of a trainstation. Probably the largest selection of beers in Nashville, but nothing overly impressive or rare. The place was very noisy when it was crowded, but tolerable once it thinned out a bit. Had the bratworst pretzel, which was okay but nothing special either. I really like the UFO program, which lets you track which beers you’ve had at their restaurants. (at 200 beers, they throw you a party and give you a $100 tab!) It was a bit pricey, but average for Nashville apparently. The trick is to go on Mondays when their pints are only $2.75. But then you also have to fight the crowds. | | lampeno420 (11), Zeeland, Michigan | | August 3, 2008 Stopped in here before a concert in Nashville after being recommended by the ratebeer guys. LOVED it obviously since it was myself with 3 buddies. Nice relaxed feel to the entire place, and even though they allow smoking, its well vented as you could barely notice it. Our waitress or Beer goddess was very knowledgeable about everything they had available, and pronounced them 100 times better than we could. Happened to be their 10th anniversary party which I was afraid everyone would be tied up with the activities, but they paid attention to everyone in the bar very well.. Beers were marked up a little from the prices in the store, but not terrible. Your paying for the convenience. FYI: This is a beer bar, they do serve mixed drinks but their more expensive than most. Im from Michigan and hit this place on a road trip, but if i were to ever relocate, it would be near here! Wonderful. Also, the girls weren’t bad either, since me and three of my friends were there for an hour and hardly said a word to eachother. A cant miss in Nashville! Highly recommended! | MrsReaves (6), APO, New York does not count - explanation | | June 5, 2008 Being a season ticket holder for Predators hockey, I had heard many great things about this place, but I always seemed to end up in the Boro with friends instead of here. The bar is tucked away in this awesome building downtown, and the interior and atmosphere were pretty darn cool. We had no problems with smoke, by the by. MrReaves and I went here with a group of friends on our last night before we moved to Germany. The selection was SOOO much better than either of us anticipated although I took off points because they were sold out of a lot of beers, especially their Trappists which is what MrReaves likes best. We even found a beer that Bridget liked and she only drinks wine (she was a good sport in that little experiment.....). Our Goth waitress in a tiny outfit was very knowledgeable, correctly pronounced the names of the beers and made suggestions very easily-but not always the most expensive stuff, so gold star for her! We ate something while we were there, but the only thing I remember about it was that it took a long time. This could also be attributed to my being drunk, so I’m not going to penalize them because of my hazy memory. | | CaptBier (19), Birmingham, Alabama | | May 1, 2008 3rd stop in Nashville on Beer Tour 08. I think if I were to die and go to beer heaven it would look a lot like this. An entire wall of taps, coolers full of bottles, live band, and hot, hot and well hot waitresses. We remember getting here, but the rest is a bit fuzzy. | | allfreej (59), Louisville, Kentucky | | April 19, 2008 Went on a Thursday night. The selection was weighted towards lagers and English-style ales. I thought the service was terrific. The manager, Jill, runs a great establishment and I had no problems with the service as some other reviewers had noted. The smoke was the biggest detractor, which was the case in every other place in town. |
