36 reviews for Flying Saucer Draught Emporium (Addison)
Botnik (7), Carrollton, Texas does not count - explanation | | November 3, 2009 Noisy and crowded on a Saturday night. Standing room only. Best if you know what you want before you go. | | angrypirate06 (15), Texas | | September 28, 2009 I really like this place. Nice and wide open bar doesn’t make you feel crowded. I went on a Friday afternoon and it was decently busy, but not enough to be annoying. Pretty good selection, and some good food as well. Bartender seemed to have a good grasp of the brews on tap. | | BMan1113VR (108), Los Angeles (and Dallas), Texas | | September 7, 2009 Went here for lunch on Labor Day. Supossivly $2.75 Texas Pints, but according to my bill Real Ale isn’t a Texas brewer...Easy parking. Large interior with typical flying saucer plates on the walls and roof. Smoking is still allowed inside, and the person next to me was capitalizing on it. Large and quite decent selection for Texas. Maharaja on tap was probably a stand out. Lots of Texas Locals including Devil’s Back Bone. Waitresses and Bartenders were very nice but new little about beer or their selection. They have two casks running. I asked what they were, and they said St. Arnold and Avery. I asked which Avery, and they said it was "Avery Cask Ale"...Turns out it was the IPA. Food was quite good, and prices were fair. Will return. | | beer4mencc1701 (15), Irving, Texas | | August 5, 2009 A very beer-centric place with what appears to be a fun beer-exploration-loyalty program (the plates on the walls are often amusing). Gave 5 for Ambiance although for my taste, it’s only great in the daytime- when a few people are scattered around with laptops, enjoying great beer in amicable relative silence. Owing to the lack of truly great bars in the DFW area, this place is insanely packed most Friday & Saturday nights, (and many other weeknights as well). The crowd can be shockingly young & loud at these times, for a place that does *not* price it’s beers for the ’let’s buy a pitcher & get pissed’ crowd. Needless to say, the beer selection is great, but I agree with other reviews that the lines are sometimes dirty, and I’ve had more than one skunked beer here. Staff is friendly enough, but I agree with other reviews that they aren’t all that knowledgeable about the beer. Food is average, but selections are good for enjoying with beer. It’s hard not to compare with the Ft. Worth location, which seems smaller, but the actual bar area, with it’s tall windows & natural lighting has the edge on Addison. | | ilovedarkbeer (38), Dallas, Texas | | July 10, 2009 Went here for lunch. Got a french dip, a salad and a flight of beers. 5, 5oz beers for 10.50 (build your own flight) is not exactly a steal. Sandwhich was good, service was solid, as I sat at the bar. Decent interior and solid bottle / tap list. Good time. | | waolsen (60), Littleton, Colorado | | September 18, 2008 large tap selection. nice floor plan. food looked good. Very busy. Nice place to stop if in the area. | | Bhops (34), Dallas, Texas | | September 4, 2008 not nearly as good as the flying saucer in fort worth, but still good by dallas terms. carried full slate of franconia beers from mckinney (local)...food decent too | | AmEricanbrew (77), Doing Rogue, Louisiana | | May 8, 2008 Great tap selection, though you have to find your own way through it. The servers and barkeeps are not usually beer savvy. Sometimes the tap lines are dirty. Nice casual vibe here with some eccentric decor. A great beer bar for the Dallas folks. | | TizzleJizzle (11), Garland, Texas | | February 16, 2008 The Flying Saucer has the best selection of beer I have ever seen at any bar. During my visit on a Friday night, they had a live band covering 90s rock songs which was real cool. The build your own fight feature is my personal favorite for $8.5 you get 5 5oz glasses of what ever beer you want. The Flying Saucer is a great place to try new beers and socialize with other cool people. This is defiantly one of the best bars in the DFW Metroplex! | | johndavidj99 (21), Township, Maine | | February 14, 2008 Great Flying Saucer! Almost as good as Ft. Worth. Nice selection but parking lot was full on Friday night. I almost got towed and had to park across the street. |
