Imbockinsxtx (2), Big Bend (Benavides, TX), Texas does not count - explanation | | February 11, 2007 Walked in and the bar back quickly greeted my buddy and myself with College Girl charm. She then gave us 3 samples in a small snifter. For the most part the flavors were thin, watery, and not very captivating in terms of suagar, malts and looks. I did distinguish hops though. Ok for my beer that I purchased. It was the Texas Gold, a dark lager. I didn’t have head in which I told the young girl to next time if I bought another one to splash some head into the glass. So didn’t have any lacing on the glass. Off Flavour didn’t find myself swooshing the beer in my mouth. Then again I will go by again someday to try one of the other 3 in a 12oz glass. The others were a Blond Weiss Beer, A Pale Lager, the Dark that I had and a new fruity Belgium Saison with a 5.5 ABV that smelled fruity and in the small snifter was watery, and thin. | Ocotillo (1), Dover Plains, New York does not count - explanation | | March 19, 2006 This place is great and Harry is a wonderful host. Make sure you are there for New Year’s Eve-- A great Party | | KAggie97 (213), Ugly, Hot, and Humid Spring, Texas | | March 15, 2006 [ Updated October 30, 2009 ] Great beer hall atmosphere, but the beer needs improving. The owner is hard to understand, but he laughs when he talks to you so I guess that’s okay. Depending on who you ask, his little boy loves amber beer. The brats are not to be missed.
UPDATE: As of September 2009, it’s closed. A web site said the brewer’s family had concerns about his health. |
