| Itzjerm (22), Taft, Tennessee | | January 5, 2012 This is an interesting Place. I mean you can get a frozen pizza while you pick up a bottle of beer to take home... and then drink a brew there. The prices were high though, and the folks behind the bar not the most friendly.... "we’re not perfect, don’t ask about whats on the board" | ATexJay (1), Austin, Texas does not count - explanation | | September 22, 2011 Family-owned business that feels like a comfortabe neighborhood bar / restaurant / beer store but with the skills and selection to be a city-wide destination. Constanty evolving...from a Dew & Fritos convenience store, to the place with the best deal on Celis White, to the current incarnation, to an aspiring brewpub. An Austin original worth checking out. | | ericandersnavy (35), Denton, Texas | | July 10, 2011 I stopped by here today to see what it is all about. Awesome tap menu and the usual suspects lined up in bottles. Since it was sunday and I showed up before noon I wasn’t able to purchase any beer to go. I was able to sample a couple of beers, because I didn’t feel like drinking a whole pint before driving back to d/fw. i can’t comment on value because I didn’t buy anything. Overall I will have to stop in again. | dfinney23 (9), Houston, Texas does not count - explanation | | May 29, 2011 Can’t comment on the food as didn’t eat but enjoyed a couple beers on tap and got a couple more to go. Definitely a unique joint -- basically a 3-aisle convenience store with one aisle of beer, one of wine and one of other stuff, plus a 50+ tap bar at one end and an Indian food menu. What’s not to like? | | slimchill (73), Austin, Texas | | January 30, 2011 Whip In is a mixed bag. Comprehensive selection with great cellar releases and well-controlled releasing of limited bottles. Everything, however, is at least a dollar or two over other places in town. The food is good enough and not very expensive, but not on par with some of the better Indian I’ve had. Staff is friendly. | addictarmy (4), Texas does not count - explanation | | September 2, 2010 Always a good selection of beers on tap. Live music indoors and outdoors. Indian food is good. My favorite is that I can have a nice stout like and go to the convenience store section and get some coffee ice cream to pair with it ;) | | suprchunk (46), Heinsberg, Germany | | May 16, 2010 Decent little convenient store-type of joint. Great beer selection, if somewhat pricey. I will stop by here on my way out of town to see if they have something I couldn’t get at Specs or Central Market (both of them). The people are pretty friendly, on the beer side, and they now serve beer on site. Didn’t try any they multiple times I’ve been as it is a long drive back home. | | HalfCockedJack (11), | | April 26, 2010 This is a small indian food restaurant that has a great selection of tap beers and carry out bottles. Knowledgeable and friendly staff. Plus you can get great beers there on Sundays, unlike at Spec’s or Grapevine market.
Really cool place, easily accessible from I-35. Check it out. | | Mora2000 (46), Dallas, Texas | | February 16, 2010 [ Updated October 24, 2010 ] Update: The Whip In has really upgraded their selection. They now have 58 taps and the food menu also has more options. They have recently started releasing vintage beers on tap including Live Oak Old Tree Hugger and Divine Reserve No. 6 - two barleywines that have not been brewed in 2--3 years.
This is a nice combination beer bar and beer store. They have a pretty good selection of beers, maybe not the best in Austin, but definitely one of the best. They also ha 15-20 taps with beers from Independence, 512, Live Oak and some out of state stuff as well. There is an inside bar and a patio to enjoy the beer on. Nice place. | | mar (57), Dallas, Texas | | February 16, 2010 Neat little place off of 35, interesting bottles for sale and interesting beers on tap. Seemed super laid back and they were willing to help find any beer you didn’t see. |
