| KAggie97 (152), Ugly, Hot, and Humid Spring , Texas | | August 3, 2009 Stopped by on a hot Saturday in August and was blown away by the number of people in attendance. Must’ve been over 1000 easily crammed in a warehouse without A/C. It was hot, stuffy, and noisy but the beers were readily available and I had the opportunity to speak, thanks to Cavie, with Fritz Rahr. Probably better in cooler weather, especially for a sweat hog like me. Friendly staff (thanks to all who tried to get me a Buffalo Butt glass!) that really knows their stuff. Gift shop for all the trinkets you might want but don’t necessarily need. Glass prices are a little steep beyond the pint glass included with the $5 admission price, but oh well. Worth a visit. | | Cavie (49), Fort Worth, Texas | | March 16, 2009 Stopped by for the Saturday celebration. Very busy, with live music and the staff wandering about. Talked with brewers and Fritz Rahr for awhile. It is very evident that they know their product and have a love for what they do. Took the offered tour of the location and very much enjoyed it. This really is just a warehouse, kind of a nasty feeling but the tanks were gleaming. Quite a contrast! | | TizzleJizzle (11), Garland, Texas | | September 29, 2008 I went here to visit my good friend Jason who is the assistant brew master. The ambiance was average, lots of people on Saturday and sometimes they will show sports games. The service was top notch, Jason was obviously helpful, but the other workers were real cool about everything too. Rahr has 12 beers, 6 of which were available when I went. Not too bad considering their micro status. The value was off the charts primarily because, well it’s free! This is defiantly the coolest brewery we have in the Metroplex. | | ericandersnavy (27), crossroads, Texas | | June 13, 2008 I have only been to the warehouse in the winter time, so bring a hoodie at least to keep you warm until the winter warmer does that for you. Staff if friendly as can be. Live music is provided for you. You can buy unique drinking glasses to put your free beer in. I enjoy this beer and the atmosphere. | | mar (36), Dallas, Texas | | May 26, 2008 not bad for a saturday. the free beer was pretty cool but i was really hoping for a tour. i’d definitely go again sometime. | | Bhops (34), Dallas, Texas | | May 10, 2008 beer was not that great but it was free. Folks were super nice, and there were a lot of people there for the normal saturday tastings. Brewery tours didn’t seem to be available, but it was one big room anyways so you could see everything. A few homeless folks got some beers too. | | unclemike (15), Ft. Riley, Kansas | | April 21, 2008 Warehouse with brewery in it Place had a live band and they kept your glass full with 3 beers on tap and 3 places to get em in the brewery. Great place to meet friends ona saturday | catcholden (1), Houston, Texas does not count - explanation | | April 15, 2008 Pros: Its a warehouse - so what! This is Texas. If I wanted the Napa Valley Beer Experience I’d go to Colorado. The people are friendly and the beer is free.
Cons: Its hot and humid in the summer (again, Texas). Beer quality is so-so. The black lager (Ugly Pug) is pretty good - as is the IPA (Stormcloud)...otherwise they’re pretty bland. Often over-malted and under-hopped.
Overall: Not a bad way to spend a Saturday afternoon. | | ilovedarkbeer (38), Dallas, Texas | | April 12, 2008 Nice folks here. The beer ins’t great but they are very friendly and even give out free beer on saturday from 1-3. Not very fancy its just a big warehouse with lots of stainless steel tanks and a small gift shop and tiny bar. OK. | | BMan1113VR (108), Los Angeles (and Dallas), Texas | | April 12, 2008 Stumbled in with ilovedarkbeer on a Saturday at 3:15. We didn’t know they had free tastings from 1-3, but we were still able to try a couple of beers for free. We talked to 2 of the brewers for a while about industry stuff, and how they brew there stuff and the history of the company. The staff seems to be all retired people volunteering for free beer. Nice place, and my opinion is much higher of the company after visiting. |
