| Zinister (41), Houston, Texas | | June 12, 2007 This is the only pub in Houston that reminds me of "old’ Austin before it was overrun with tech-geeks. Wide mix of people, which I like, as well as decent selection of beers...which I like even more. Service is spotty at times, but the food is pretty decent and it’s a good place to chill for a while. | | KAggie97 (127), Ugly, Hot, and Humid Spring , Texas | | April 10, 2007 Located in the armpit of the Heights (and since this appears to be a hippy hangout, it’s a pretty hairy armpit). The ambiance is rustic, the clientele a mixture of granola crunchers, tree huggers, and accountants. And then there was me (rock star) and my fiancee (supermodel). The selection is surpisingly nice for such a Bohemian hangout- one would expect nothing but soy beer- but nothing spectacular. I had the breakfast the morning after I went here, and for the price ($20 for two kolaches, two coffees, and two bowls of granola cereal) it was not worth it. I think a requirement for employment is to have multiple piercings, a hair color other than that which you were born with, and a Ramones shirt. Serious about the latter- two of three bartenders were wearing them. | billism (9), Missouri City, Texas does not count - explanation | | March 31, 2007 I was here on a crowded pub crawl, so my experience may be a little skewed from the norm, however I really enjoyed this place. Decent beer selection, nice ambiance inside. Great patio area. I had the boiled crawfish, which was being cooked outside. It was probably the best I have had, so I hope that can be attributed to this location always serving good food. |
