| SudsMcDuff (38), was CapeTown,SA-now Houston, Texas | | April 27, 2009 First discovered this gem when they graciously oped up there doors to the Houston BA’s for our monthly tastings; awesome place and awesome people! .. . Selection is top notch, only beat out by the saucer, but this place has that cozy friends house kinda feel .. . always have a cask beer, a plus ... . they offer chips, pretzels and a cheese plate they will do in a pinch, or you can order a pizza or bring in a burger, they are cool about it .. . overall: fantastic beer selection for Houston, and they treat their rowdy BA’s like kings!!! .. recommended for sure, one of my favourite stops... | DrZao (1), Houston, Texas does not count - explanation | | April 16, 2009 Very nice ambiance. Michael Jackson used to visit here and hosted a beer tasting here once I believe. Small place but secluded from the business of Rice Village. Close to the med center where I work. My colleagues and I like to go here to enjoy Belgians and other hard to find brews. Highly recommended. | | ahmashar (10), Stafford, Texas | | January 19, 2009 Great place to go after work if your in the area. While it doesn’t have the same variety of beers as the Flying Saucer (only a few less, but there you go), it does have cask conditioned Elissa IPA, which is phenomenal. Very little food and spotty service (much dependent on who is tending bar) are the only things that mar the experience, though again only marginally. | | stclairtr (10), Houston, Texas | | January 17, 2009 Despite the near lack of food and sometimes sketchy service, this is my go-to bar in Houston. | Biohazard (3), does not count - explanation | | July 27, 2008 Fantastic bar with an incredible selection, good service and decent bar food. The beer selection is second to none in Houston, and although busy, the service is relatively quick and friendly, and they have a good memory. You can become a regular after just a couple of visits. Plenty of academics and doctors from Rice and the Texas Medical Center which are virtually next door. Can’t believe it hadn’t been rated already. It’s within walking distance of all of Rice Village so its easy to grab a pint here before or after dinner. | bigcatt (1), HOUSTON, Texas does not count - explanation | | January 3, 2008 One of the great all time beer places. No mixed drinks. Started the whole multi tap bar scene. Med center crowd. | daniellerose7 (7), new york, New York does not count - explanation | | December 28, 2007 Love this bar! Great atmosphere (darts...), great beer selection (lots of taps!), pretty cheap, never too crowded. Awesome. | | KUEric (79), Chevy Chase, Maryland | | July 13, 2007 This place was great. Had a definite feel to it. Reminded me a little of a smaller Brickskeller (in DC). A diverse set of people, drinking from thier diverse set of taps. They had some locals and some hard finds in Texas (Belgian in particular).
Especially when considering how busy it was, the service was good to great.
| | Zinister (49), Houston, Texas | | June 12, 2007 Great pub. Beer selection is solid and atmosphere is good as well. People are always in a good mood and most are darn friendly. | billism (9), Missouri City, Texas does not count - explanation | | March 31, 2007 Another one of my favorite pubs. Great beer selection, great service every time I have been there (6+), great atmosphere. The waitresses have always been friendly. Great porch in the back, with heaters in teh Winter. A very welcoming place. |
