Overall the beers arent too shabby and priced right. Nice little river runs outside, food is fair at best.

Went w/ friend and met up w/ Jason. We brought some beers and I was driving, so didn’t delve to deeply into theirs. I recalled as I pulled in parking lot that I had been there about eleven years ago just after they opened. Fair but limited selection. The Baltic porter is quite good.

A pretty cool place for a younger crowd. The first friday of every month there is a gigantic art gallery showing in the surrounding buildings so this place really gets packed with people, bands, and other entertainers.

Visited 7/11/07. My flight was crazy late, and I arrived to the brew pub about 5 minutes before they closed. The bartender Ron was very accommodating, and let my take time to sample the Barley Wine, Pale Ale and the IPA despite the fact I was the only paying customer still in the place. They had 6 or 7 beers on, and one firkin cask that had just blown. The brewpub has a nice vibe, cool architecture and hidden / tucked away feeling to it. Folks were very cool, and the beers were above average. I did not have a chance to try the food, but certainly will next time I am in San Antonio. Thank you for the hospitality Ron and Dustin!

Decent place to have a brew. Beer is good across the board as far as quality. Food is average.

All their beers seem bitter, except maybe some of the darker ones. Overall Fredericksburg Brewing Co is much better, but if you don’t want to drive that far - go here. As far as their food - don’t bother. If you want "beer snacks" such as Nachos - good luck, their idea of nachos is the one layer artsy-fartsy thing where you get like 10 chips spread with something on each one and pay maybe $6.00 bucks. This ain’t snacks baby!

UPDATE 4/8/08 The selection has improved dramatically, with 5-7 beers on tap again. I had a bourbon barrel IPA last time I was in-great experiment in brewing. Time to put Blue Star back on the list..
I’ve been here twice over the past 3 months. The beer selection has gone from 4 to 3 beers-none of which were the barley wine.
The food is generally good. Last time I was in S.A. I stayed on the northwest side so I could go to the Flying Saucer-with 80 plus beers on tap.
Blue Star is going in the wrong direction-from the old days when 6-8 beers were on tap and cask ale was usually available. Sorry.

Clean and quiet the night I was there. Beer selection was thin at three taps. Beers were fair, service was prompt and friendly.

Nice little place located a short distance from downtown. Only 4 different beers the day I went but one of them was a barley wine and you don’t see that very often at brew pubs! Definately a must go when in San Antonio, cause where else is there to go...?!?

A pleasant little micro near downtown SA. Decor is fairly run of the mill, but the wait staff and brewmaster are quite friendly. The beer range from average to very good IMO. Show up for the art festival the first Friday of any month. You might get to try some cask ale on that day, but it sells out quick!
