| Beershine (261), Where Climate Suits My Clothes, Vietnam | | September 4, 2009 Nice location but rather depressing bar. Was Ramadan and during the day so understandably no other patrons but even if it were full has a stock characterless bar feel. Sitting outside on the street is great, though--good street life around this area. The dunkel is decent. | | Beerlando (43), Orlando, Florida | | July 22, 2008 Small brewpub that doubles as a nightclub in the Taksim Square area of Istanbul. Indoor and outdoor seating available. The fermentor sits at the back of the place, right behind the DJ booth. The rest of the brewing equipment sits right in the middle of the bar. Though there are 3 beers on the menu, only one, the Pilsner, was available when I visited, and it was nothing to write home about. The food was a strange mix of German, Asian, American, and Turkish. Like the beer, the food was nothing to get excited over, its just typical pub fare. Service was adequate, but far from special. The place looked like it was struggling financially when I was there, which might explain why they’re only brewing one beer. In a land where the beer scene in 99.9% dominated by the local pale lager, Efes, I wonder how much longer this place will be around. Visit while you can. | | omhper (111), Stockholm, Sweden | | March 13, 2008 Disco brew pub with big screen TV, loud music and a rowdy crowd. They had two rather unimpressive beers on. Not great, but on the whole the concept works. | | fiulijn (198), Como; Lausanne (CH); Malmö (SWE), Italy | | January 27, 2008 Nice disco pub and nice music, in the heart of Istanbul. The beers are ok. | emotv (5), Izmir, Turkey does not count - explanation | | April 8, 2007 This place is much like a over 20’s bar. Well it is hard to find a table and also guy waiters was very un-friendly, but place is god decorated. There are 4 beers but i had only tasted 3 because wheat beer was not avaviable. We have to keep it for this places. Beers are weak but encaugraging maybe they could brew much better ones later. | | Fin (97), Merton, England | | January 24, 2007 Found this place purely by chance and this was the my last pint/half pint, in my last pub, on my last night in Istanbul. Situated just off main shopping street in the Beyoglu area, this will offer some respite to those tiring of the Efes. The establishment was only opened three months ago and I understand that it was either built or modelled on a german design. I was told that there are at least four beers on tap although when I got there late on a Sunday evening there were only two left and to be honest as nice as they were and despite my having already consumed a decent amount that day I am fairly convinced that the two beers that I tried were actually one and the same and that they only had one left, both were unfiltered, tasted exactly the same and whilst I wasn’t at the bar appeared to come from the same tap.
The brewpub was smart, well frequented and looked the sort of place that may also cater to DJ’s on a Fri/Sat night. Food was the usual stuff and not particularly Turkish but was very reasonably priced and was of a good quality. Please also note that the beer was also amongst the cheapest if not the cheapest I’d had over the whole weekend and came in three sizes 100ml ?(taster) 300ml and 500ml and was something like 1,2, and 3 Turkish Liri respectively for each size. |
