54 Decent service, with reasonable food and ok beer. Not bad not great, the staff could be more knowledgeable and tough to call yourself a brewery if your beer is brewed in Philly. |
50 Stayed just a block away so thought I’d come by to visit my first Rock Bottom pub! I needn’t had bothered, as the place is well and truly run of the mill. Man, its been a while since I have seen such a dirty establishment. Dirty glasses all on the bar and the tables had dirty plates and glasses that no waitstaff had bothered to clean up. There was a number of staff on duty too so I guess slow and little care factor. I ordered two pints during happy hour from a mediocre selection of house beers. Surprisingly, the beers were actually drinkable. Again, bar service was slow and it was starting to get busier so paid as quickly as I could and beat a hasty retreat! |
66 Visited this one a couple of times over the years, most recently May’11 when stopping at the Marriot opposite.
Standard RB (adequate/average) house beers plus half a dozen guest taps - which was welcome but nothing too rare or intersting (Boulder Mojo rising amongst others). Cask hand pull also available but not readily advertised!
Service was fine, food fine - usual big portion of nahcos.
Adequate place, not really worth going out of your way for, but at least you can get non RB beers at this one should you wish! |
58 A standard “cookie-cutter” brewpub in a large chain. This one is fairly centrally located, close to Jacob Wirth. The beers are OK – nothing remarkable but consistent in quality.
(Last visited 21 October 2012). |
62 Very much chain brewpub. Sports on several screens. 8 own brews on tap + couple of other taps. Some bottles. OK food, OK service. Not cheap. |
56 a middle of the road type of place in every respect. |
76 Varied on taps, with very nice food options. |
62 A large classy location with a nice mix of art deco theme, ample yet homey. The food I had (South of Philly Burger) was plain delicious. Prices are standard. Beer ranged from watery (the corporate ones) to very decent offerings (the IPA standing out). Visited July 1 2010. September 2011: As of this summer, they are now serving beers brewed at the Rock Bottom Pittsburgh location, and also have guest taps. |
60 I went there at the end of the evening on my birthday about a week ago. It was fairly empty, as it was close to their closing time. I sat at he bar which had a trippy optical copper top with wood trim. They had their own breweriana signs and posters all over, lots of TVs. Couple of bars and different seating areas. Bartender was friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. Full service bar with extensive liquour selection and wine. Cask beer was available as well. |
