A good selection of interesting beer including locals and out of state. Great service and decent food.

Visited on a Saturday night. A little more upscale pub atmosphere, similar to a Rock Bottom or Gordon Biersch. 24 beers on tap when we visited. A decent selection, but nothing that is mind-blowing. Pretty decent burgers, although our service was quite poor. Worth checking out if you’re a local, but not worth going out of your way if you’re from out of town.

Visited: 10-14-11 The atmosphere is great with nice decor on the walls, a decent calm crowd, and a nice upscale bar. The service was decent as the waitress was attentive, only hang up was two different pint glasses served with lipstick on them. They had a great selection with 24 taps, 40 bottles, and a dozen craft beers in cans. The selection was great as they had a wide selection of great beers and very few common craft beers. The food was great as I had the angies farms chicken burger which was cooked good and had a nice flavor. The prices were decent as 3 of us had burgers and a beer each and totaled 52 bucks.

Large place, seems more like a chain than most other places we had visited. Servers were friendly and had helpful beer advice. Beer list was large and included a number of local choices. Food was good.

Went on a Monday. Local NC beers were half off (2.50 a pint) really enjoyed the OMB Copper. Appetizers were good, tried the burger but didnt understand why it was voted best in Charlotte.

Very nice looking but a little loud/hard to have a conversation (and it was only a Tuesday). Service was good but a little slow at first. Selection was pretty good. Mix of stuff including locals which were marked. Lots of non-craft beers, though. Although this could also be seen as a plus to take your friends/relatives who only drink Corona while still enjoying a selection for yourself. Pricing seemed on the upscale side even though everything was good- it wasn’t a "deal."

This is a restaurant first and foremost with excellent, excellent food. The location is prime, the large parking lot is almost touching a train stop. We made use of the patio space during some most pleasing weather. The beer list was very good, not mindblowing, but a smart selection. We drank some Double Simcoe and Hoptical Illusion. Our server was great. He was attentive and knowledgeable without being overbearing or pushy in the slightest. The most remarkable thing about The Liberty is the food. Good God. I don’t think I deserve to eat food this delicious. We had the calamari fries and devils on horseback. I can’t even begin to sing the praises. Next time I’m in Charlotte I am returning to The Liberty with an emptier stomach so I can experience some of the entrees.

Nice warm feel to the place, some of the decor seemed a bit cheesy but comfortable overall. I would also get rid of the exposed keg cooler with windows. The rest of the place has nice warm colors, but this keg cooler has windows and the lighting inside is a harsh bright light, and has all of the tap lines visible. Kind of an eye sore. The beer menu is fairly extensive, and has some great beers both on tap and in bottles. The only issue that I have with the beer menu is that there is very little description of each beer, and there are no food/beer pairing suggestions. I would also like to see a place like this have a few more taps, I think they have around 20 beers on tap now; 30-40 would be better (IMHO) The food is outstanding, my wife had the braized short ribs and I had the shrimp and grits. Both dishes were terrific. A little pricey, but definately worth it. We went for dinner each had two beers, a main course, and an appitizer to split and after tip our bill was around $70. The service was really good, our waitress was attentive, not overly pushy, and helpful with the menu. Overall the experience was very enjoyable. I would definately suggest the Liberty to anyone looking for a good beer-centric restaurant with better than pub fare food. I will still stick with Duckworths if I just want to stop and have a pint or two, but this is a great choice for great food paired with good beer.
