I have visited Byrne’s many a time over the years. It is located on 3rd Ave and Northwest. There is a lot beside and behind the building but it fills up quickly. There is street parking in the surrounding area as well.
There is a patio outside. Inside it is dark with the bar on the right side with a few tables across from it, with booths around the back. The adjacent room serves dart leagues and musical acts with a stage. Lots of kitsch on the walls, and a couple TVs behind the bar.
Byrne’s has 12 or so taps that are evenly split between macros and more popular craft brewers like Great Lakes, Sierra Nevada and Stone. They do get good stuff like GLBC Christmas Ale and Blackout on tap though, and in the past they have had random stuff like the Sierra Nevada Beer Camp beers. Local beers from CBC and seasonals like Celebration Ale show up too. As for bottles they have a similar mix of micro and macro, again with some gems like Fat Heads Head Hunter and Oskar Blues.
Service at Byrne’s is pretty good considering they are consistently understaffed. Not a lot of beer knowledge either.
The food menu at Byrne’s is primarily bar food and sandwiches. Some of the food is average but a couple of the specials have been spot on.
All in all this place is not really geared toward the beer connoisseur but there is usually something worthwhile. Between that and the local and national Irish bands they get it is worth a look.
