Stopped by on our way through De Moines. Their tap and bottle selection is almost too large and hard to pick something out. I was happy to see some Toppling Goliath on tap, and amazed to see they sold bottles to go. Food was Mexican grub food. Tater tots were fantastic. It’s a must stop, without a doubt.

Big ass dumpy looking pile of garbage that wears the oddness of the building well. Gigantic tap list with a focus on the esoteric and local/regional. Tons of bottles as well if that’s your thing. Reasonable prices. Plates of food on the cheap. Root beer/jager shooters are not 2 be missed. Pretty tame walk in cooler if you get tuckered out. Plenty chill.

Right downtown with plenty of parking. Eclectic with a huge patio. Live music that is appropriate, this night was a very good hillbilly band. Matched the ambiance. Service was great and horrible. I was ignored by some, in favor of their friends and doted on by others. Beer list is impressive with very good pricing. Samplers are a bit pricey, so just drink cheapish pints. Open very late which is also a bonus. A must.

Awesome tap selection. Great bottle and can selection too. Menu looked good but I didn’t eat. Good laid back service.

Visited for dinner and a beer on a Wednesday. I was there right before an Iowa Cubs game (who apparently play right across the street) so the place was loud and boisterous with a pre game crowd. Ambiance is well designed and clean “dive bar” feel along with several huge patios. Service at the bar was efficient, particularly given how busy they were. The beer selection is truly impressive, with a wide variety of styles and many harder to find beers - which can lead to some high prices. I appreciated how they featured Iowa beers in bold on the menu. They also offer beers to go and some beer flights. Neat place, though it was quick, I had a great visit. From a food perspective, certainly bar food - though the Philly style nachos I had were tasty. I will certainly try to hit this place again.

88 = ★★★★ (best in area, a must for locals and visitors)

I only use the total score, not the component parts.

This place ROCKS!. Super cute staff is well versed in the animal kingdom, particuarly Pallas’s Cates and whales. Half a dozen TG on tap along with a shit load of other stuff. A bunch of Danish stuff rews in the cooler (To Ol, Mikkeller, Evil Twin). So many goodies on tap that it was hard to choose. jkjkjkjjkkjljmkjk, I went with TGLOL. CIB one offs occasionally offered. One of the best places to grab a brew in town.

This place gives "and a whole bunch of crazy crap on the walls" an entire new meaning. Tons of beer stuff with lots of other random things. And the beer list is extensive. Lots of import bottles, lots of Iowa locals on tap, and a bunch of other craft beers you don’t see every where. There is a bar food menu but i didn’t eat. This is the beer place in Des Moines.

Stopped by here on a recent trip to Des Moines on a tip from a friend. Walking into the place, I was immediately impressed with the tap wall and bottle selection. This contributed to a cool ambiance, especially with all of the vintage bar / beer decor. Service was good. Bartender was knowedgeable and attentive. Did not have food. Prices were a little high, especially on the bottled selection. They wanted approximately a 25% premium over what you would pay at a liquor store or online for the same beer. Overall, my trip here was great. Had a good time and tried quite a few new beers. Definitely a must stop.
