This area liquor shop is located in an older area of Encinitas among out-dated architecture and revived architecture alike. The store has a fairly large beer selection and one of the best in San Diego county. The prices are average and service upon request. There are several lambics and barrel-aged beers accompanying a mostly CA selection.

The selection here is extensive and impressive. Lots of beers out on the shelves, but a number of coolers as well. Lots and lots of local, San Diego breweries as well as special releases from the Bruery, Almanac, Firestone, and others. Lots of imports as well, which is sort of unusual for Southern California and San Diego in particular.

The place itself is a solid store, but some of the prices are laughable. For instance, the Bruery/Dogfish head collaboration from 3? years ago for $40? Hah! It’s a good place and you’ll be able to find what you’re looking for, but you may have to pay extra for it.

> Legit bottle shop off the 101 in Leucadia (north Encinitas)

>> 3/4 of beers are not fridged, but they do a fairy good job of putting hoppy beers in the fridge. Well organized by brewery and country. Was able to find ALL of the Almanac sour releases and the new Lagunitas NightTime. Some other older Stone collab 12oz bottles are hard to find nowadays. Normal prices, no price gauging. Staff seemed nice- no hassle. Will be back since as far as I know, only this place and Texas Liquor in the North County area get special releases. Yes, it is beer dessert in a beer paradise if you are bottle shopping.

(Visited 10/2013): Royal Liquor is located near the ocean on the 101 on the north side of Encinitas, not too far off the I-5. There is a parking lot next to the building.

The interior is laid out like a typical liquor/convenience store. The beer is located in multiple aisles on the right side, and in some coolers around the perimeter.

Regarding the selection there are hundreds of brands, more or less segmented by geography. California and the west coast are well-represented with beers from Lost Abbey/Port, Almanac, Bruery, Speakeasy and Russian River.

Service on our visit was friendly, although the cashier didn’t really go out of the way to offer assistance (not that we asked for or needed it). They did let me use the restroom which was appreciated.

All in all this is an unassuming spot from outward appearances, but has an incredible selection and is definitely worth stopping between Encinitas and Carlsbad.

Pretty nice place on the Alameda. Not crowded on a Friday afternoon, plenty of outdoor seating. A dozen interesting taps, iwhen I was there. Fair to middlin bottle list, with prices that range from pretty good to "whoah"

I was utterly surprised by the fantastic selection here. I looked everywhere for certain beers and finally went here on a whin, even though it looks a run of the mill liquor store.

I stumbled onto this place unintentionally as I was driving down the 101 looking for a restroom. boy was I surprised when I walked in.... They have lines and lines of beer, probably close to 700 varieties. I also loved their controlled wine cellar. I wish they aged their beers this way as well. Definitely one of the best in San Diego.

Great beer selection, they really don’t have bad beers. Wish we had it this good in Arizona!
