90 Visited on a Monday afternoon. The place is located in a nice area of Falls Church close to a lot of businesses. Big parking garage close by, but otherwise parking is not very good. The ambiance of the place is old world European. The place has a ton of taps with a large variety of styles. They also had a few casks going with one offs. The quality of the beers was pretty high. Service was excellent as well. This is a really nice brewpub. I would definitely come back to visit this place again. |
72 Not sure how I missed rating this place as I've been a couple of times. Large restaurant space/brewpub in Falls Church. Beer is mostly decent, done to style. Friendly service. Place is fairly generic but it has been around for a long time in the Northern Virginia area. They do flights. |
74 Very large space that was quite lively on a Saturday afternoon and quite loud, too. Long bar. A good selection with quite a nice mild ale. Service was nice. Nothing super special here but a very solid brewpub and worth stopping in. |
78 This place is enormous! I guess the peeps in Falls Church have some money. There are about a dozen taps, including some cask engines. The bartender was both hospitable and knowledgeable. The food looked really good but I didn’t order any. I’ll definitely be returning here, and spending a little more time. |
74 First stop of the evening. Pretty trendy location. Took an Uber; looked like parking could be challenging. Place is modern and spacious. Upscale brewpub decor. Not particularly busy on a Monday evening - plenty of room at the bar. They had about 10 taps running, mostly their own stuff but a couple of guest taps as well. Flights of four available for $7. Service was pretty solid, beers were ok, not terrible by any means. Appetizers were decent enough. |
82 Located in the urbanizing core of Falls Church, Mad Fox is a large pleasant space, if not that distinctive. Good selection of beers, which I have found to be tasty. Food is notably good, and I have had competent service at both bar and table. Definitely on the recommended list for visitors to NoVa. |
66 Came here on a Sunday afternoon. Flatbread are pretty good and the beer is not bad. Staff is slightly vacant. |
72 Nice brewpub in a trendy area of Falls Church. The place looks nice enough but a little bit generic/corporate. I knew this place was in the area but visiting was not high on my list...until recently when a family member moved to nearby Annandale. So I stopped here this past Sunday. I’ll tell you...the food is quite good...a step up above bar food with some better than usual items on the menu. The service was average...nothing special...nothing bad. As for the beers...I tried 8 samples of the 12 on draft including 4 limited edition or cask ales. I found a couple of the beers to be above average...and the rest ordinary...but definitely not bad. None however were ones that I could highly recommend. Mad Fox is a good stop if in the area...especially for the food. I would not drive out of my way for the beer though. |
56 Had to scramble a bit to make a visit -- unfortunately they wouldn’t let me sit on the patio with the old dog. I know this isn’t their fault, but how can the "health board" make such a rule for a patio covered in bird poop? So I barely had time to pop in and have a beer. That said, I was left with a good impression; the one beer I had was very good, and one of the proprietors complemented my Troegs t-shirt. It’s expensive ($7 pint), but welcome to the NoVA. I’ll go back -- but will give myself more time to park. (Brewery #680) |
78 Been a ton of times, huge space in Falls Church, a good 20min outside DC. Huge bar, tons of tables, patio space. Good spot for happy hour with coworkers or dinner with the kids. The menu is really good, all of the food, top to bottom is done well and priced well. Usually 8-10 beers on tap with a few more on cask. Everything made in house. Not every beer is a grand slam, but there’s always something on to interest you. Great staff, great spot. |
