A real favorite in Milwaukee’s Bay View neighborhood more because of the food than the beer selections. The ambiance and scenery is better in the high-ceiling barroom (to the north) than the low-ceiling converted diner (to the south). A dozen or so tappers include a handful of seasonals (often from Lakefront or Great Lakes) plus a relatively standard selection of bottled beers. Ask the staff to tell you what is not on the printed beer menu. The sandwiches are outstanding and served with Asian Slaw, Lulu Chips or (the smart choice) a little of both. Waitstaff and bartenders are friendly and knowledgeable. Homemade pie and cookies are great, inexpensive desserts. The art on the high walls of the barroom changes frequently and always is good for starting a conversation.

This is one of my favorite restaurants in Milwaukee. I love the decor and the ambiance. The beautiful old building with it’s high ceilings. The always interesting artwork constantly rotating. The staff is very friendly and they have a low turn over. The food is fantastic. They are famous around here for their hand made potato chips with blue cheese dipping sauce. Good selection of local and regional beers on tap. The taps rotate frequently with whatever Wisconsin brew is best and latest. Tuesday night bike night is fun. Lots of vintage European bikes to marvel at while you enjoy your brew.

Cafe Lulu is a bar that was added onto the very popular Cafe Lulu (former George Webbs) in the trendy Bay View neighborhood. The food is always good and reasonably priced as well. The beer selection is mostly WI Micros but other beers are offered on a rotational basis. The decor is very trendy but not pretentious. Great place to have some very good food paired with good beer. Also, this place is a 5 minute walk from the Sugar Maple.
