100 Mermaid Juice is a Mount Dora gem. Amazing craft beer, wine, and atmosphere. Incredible selection and the nicest/most knowledgeable staff in Central Florida. Do not pass this place up - it is worth the stop!! |
86 Overall a pretty good place way out in Orlando visited in late December 2014. It is definitely its own place with its own way of viewing the craft beer world. Nice tap list and great bottle selection. A place that will stand the test of time just based on location and its atmosphere. Look forward to going back again next time in the Orlando area. A must visit for craft beer in the Orlando area. |
100 What a find! This place puts Mount Dora on the craft beer map. Great selection of beers, 22 tap and what seems like and endless selection of bottles and cans.
It’s like the compact non conforming version of World Of Beer.
The place is super cool with unique character that really makes it shine.
On any given day you can walk in an find a 4yr barrel aged imperial stout on draft, the next day it could be fresh 120 minute or even a rare nitro offering from a local Florida brewery.
Check it out! you will not be disappointing. |
88 I was shocked when I found myself in Tavares, FL for the night and this "famous" beer bar was just a few minutes down the road. I had to check it out after all the controversy. It’s a pretty cool place with great beer, all things considered. It seems to be sort of a converted house/apartment or something, so there’s separate areas and taps spread all over with some antiques and such sitting around. The bartenders and clientele throw a strong hipster vibe, but it is what it is - everyone was super nice. The bartenders were prompt, friendly, and knowledgable. I was at a table by myself and a manager stopped and chatted with me about beer and whatnot. Very nice guy. Not a ton of taps but everything they had was good stuff and lots of FL beers. Is this a world class amazeballs place? Probably not, but it’s still pretty great. I will absolutely visit every time I’m visiting friends in the Tavares area. The only thing I’d change is to have the taplist more visible somewhere instead of small pieces of paper taped to the wall. Personally, I like to look at the taplist, look things up, and decide on my own without bartenders asking me what I like, etc. I also understand that I’m not a "normal" customer, though. I’ll be back! Cheers! |
90 I wasn’t expecting much, but my expectations were blown away. Its a bit off the beaten path but worth the trek. This is a small town hang out, with character coming out the walls. Its worth stopping by to just see the antiques and people watch. Add in a strong draft list, low prices, friendly service, and its a great experience. I’ll be back. |
92 Love this place; it is a low key craft beer bar that looks like a college basement. Plenty of bottles, nice staff and decent draft selection depending on the day. Prices are reasonable as well |
96 Fun, eclectic, interesting diverse patrons and wonderful staff - superb selection and decent prices. |
92 Visited here a few months back...really enjoyed the experience. This is a very unique and ecclectic craft beer bar. More like an antique and craft beer memorabilia store than a bar. The taps are spread around the establishment along with the bottles and kegs. The beer is very good though...nice and varied selection. Best of all was hanging out and talking to Daneaux...nice guy...very interesting conversationalist...with an obvious passion for craft beer. If in the area stop by for a visit. (Note...I’m very stingy with 100 ratings...I think a place needs to earn that over an extended period of many years and many reviews...for me a 92 rating is very high for an establishment of this type). |
100 Awesome place! Feels like home on your first visit. Daneaux & Bill make you feel like you’ve been friends forever and you’re always welcome. 3rd time there, but you can call me a regular from now on. |
100 Mermaid Juice is a little hidden gem about a half hour northwest of Orlando. Dan, the owner, is very friendly and instantly makes you feel at home. I was very impressed with his draft and bottle selection, stuff you can’t find anywhere else, and the prices were very reasonable. He gave us generous portions to taste and sample beers that we were interested in. I will definitely be a regular here and highly recommend visiting. |
