Hotel near the center of the city. I use to visit Thursday for trivia way back when. There are a few pretty good beers but most need some work. Food is about average. Prices were fair. Service was definitely on the slower side.

This is in an old traditional hotel in the middle of town. Parking in the rear. Large L shaped bar and lots of tables. Bartendress was also waiting tables, so the service was very slow, but courteous enough. Food was OK. Six beers on, and flights of four are available. A decemt enough stop between Austin and San An.

Brewpub in the lobby of a hotel. Service was good. Beer was a mixed bag with some good house beers as well as some not so good house beers. Guest taps were decent. Located right off the traffic circle in downtown New Braunfels so an easy place to swing by if you are in the city.

An old style bar with lots of history and atmosphere. Approximately 10 taps and a fair selection of bottled beers. The home brews can be hit and miss but overall having a beer at the Faist is an enjoyable experience.

(Visited 08/2009): Stopped at the Faust Hotel on the way back to our hotel after a day of "Toobin’" and were disappointed to learn they are not currently brewing their own beers. However, the license is in the works and they say they will be producing again in the next couple months. The historic hotel is located on Seguin Ave just a few blocks from the town circle. New Braunfels is not too far off I-35. There is street parking in front and the hotel appeared to have parking as well. The interior is like stepping back in time, and the bar is directly past the registration desk to the left. The bar is relatively narrow with bar and table seating. Despite not having their own beers, the hotel did have around 8 beers on tap from brewers like Real Ale (Fireman’s/Alamo Golden and ESB), and Harpoon, along with imports from Spaten, Guinness and Lefebvre. They also have a decent bottled selection again with local/regional beers represented. Service was good on a slow weekday late afternoon. The bartender was in the know about the brewing situation and was very friendly. We did not have any food on our visit. Overall I liked this quaint bar in this old hotel and would definitely attempt to visit again once they start brewing.

This place is tucked away in the Faust Hotel....but it has never been busy when I’ve been in there...maybe it’s because both times I’ve been there has only been one beer on tap, a brown. Anyway...they have no food, except for popcorn, and the waitstaff (one semi-cute girl) is only somewhat helpful. It has a good interior, but it’s certainly not meeting it’s potential, which is too bad.
